How to Install a Datel Transfer Kit on Windows Vista

Written by Danake, Touched up by Carson

DO NOT put in the CD that came with the kit!

1) Download the Memory Unit Drivers.

http://www.dwl.xbox-scene.com/xbox360pc/drivers/X360MemoryUnitDriversV1.2.rar

2) Next plug in your Memory card, and windows should ask if you want to install a new driver. Select "Cancel".

3) Click Start, and right click "Computer" and then select "Manage" then click "Device Manager" in the left column.

4) Now in the right column, under unknown devices their should be some new ones Right click the one that doesn't say "security method" and then "update drivers"

5) Select "Choose Location" and then point it to the drivers you downloaded above. Continue to install all unknown devices except the security method. If it says cannot find driver from the folder, that device most likely isn't the transfer kit.

6) Now the security method will still be in the unknown however xplorer360 should be able to open the memory card. From now on when you plug your memory card in windows will want to format the card and update the drivers, don't let it, cancel every time. It gets annoying but there is no way around it.

Pictrues will be added upon request

Could you please add pictures? I just got my transfer cable today, and after trying everything i could find on these forums i tried your tutorial, but it still wouldn't work! I'm using a 64 mb memory card, and I followed your tutorial exactly. Thanks a lot .

Did you put in the CD it came with first? If you did, that's the problem

Well the very first time i tried to install it I did, but when i followed this and other tutorials, i restored my system to a point before i put the disk in and installed the Datel drivers. I then followed the tutorials exactly and it still wouldn't work.

Re: How to Install a Datel Transfer Kit on Windows Vista

OK this may be my first post over here but that should mean nothing...

There is a much easier way to do this, simply use NO DRIVERS and it works perfectly.

When vista asks about the new device choose the bottom option of never ask again, and leave it at that. It will always show the device in other devices and have the yellow ? by it, saying it wont work. It does work.

Once that's done, open Xplorer360 and open the memcard, it's contents will appear on screen as if by magic.

Hope that helps anyone having problems.

Note: I have not checked this method on Vista64 but I assume it will work.
