How to fix Error E74!

no i found out wat it was, the pennies broke apart lol had to put the paper on like yours , it has the towels on it so im waiting. i realy hope this works lol....and btw is this a perm fix?

You need to glue the pennies together, and mine still is working.

edit- its not working how long should i put it in the towels

never mind i fixed it , it had to less pennies and i didnt need to used any cd's :] thanks for the tut

One thing i tried before was taking the X-clamp off and bolting the heat sync down to the mother board to put more pressure on the chip below it, and it worked, but only for about a week. I think i'll try this now.

What if the pennies fall over when you are carrying it around? So do i glue em on to the chip?

The pressure holds it there.

That or you can make your stack a little bit taller.(allowed me not to use cd's) Then put a drop of super glue on the top of the stack take the fan housing and put it on and where the pennies touch the housing they will stick to and not fall over or out of place ever.

I got my 360 yesterday. Cords should come here any day now, and once my thermal paste gets here I will do this and the X-Clamp fix to it. (Although it was already X-Clamped, so I'll pretty much just re-do the paste job.)

Why would you have to re-do the paste job when you've already done it?

Because I didn't do it, it came that way.
I got the thermal paste and cords today.

See that part that has a thing on the heatsink?... The one right there ^^^^^^

My 360 doesn't have that.

That heat sink isnt required. Make your stack a bit taller. 1 or 2 more pennies. Overheat it for a little bit then let it cool down and try again.

Everytime when i overheat my 360 for a certain cause for one of my fixes to work, I always have a paranoia of (IF) my 360 works then its just b/c of the Overheat.

Overheating is a temporary fix usually lasting no more than a couple days to a week.

If your getting RROD then just send it in. That way you may get lucky like me and get a brand new unit.

just got it today and this did not work 4 me so im just sending it in hopefully they do not see the little scratches on the sticker.
