This is a discussion about 360 Beeps within the Xbox 360 Support section, where you will Get help for your Xbox 360. Cant connect to your PC, can't recover your gamertag? We're here to help in any way we can.; I just wondering, what does this mean. I'll be playing my 360 for a while and just randomly it will beep.

Pieceman, everything is. Its like cancer, we'll all be ****ed over by it eventually..

And the 360 doesnt beep... I dont see how it could, it has no speakers or anyway to produce a beeping sound...

Ive never seen anything inside that could beep either... Do you have a surge protector?

There is nothing to produce a beep... its either something else or maybe its a squeek that sounds like a beep...

I'm sure its my 360. Cause it wouldn't be something else in the room. I've had my 360 over my friends house, and both of my houses and it will make the sound randomly. It's a short beep and will sound for like one second. I got worried and was wondering if that was the indication of it over heating or something. I just bought it in January.

I was looking in my 360, and I think it's a problem with your DVD drive which does come with the ability to "beep" when there's an error with your drive. As for the actual beep, my guess is that it sounds much like the BIOS beep when you hold too many keys down? or does it sound more like the high pitched beep when your BIOS crashed for some reason?
If it's sorta quite when it beeps with a low tone similar to when you press all your keys down at once, then 99% chance it's something to do with your DVD drive. If it's something more of a random pitch each time, then it's a loose screw in the case, and if it's a higher pitch, mid-high volume (and if you have the falcon chip), then it's thought to be a feature in the chip that warns you of a possible error which needs attention.

It sounds like a BIOS beep. I mentioned it here because I haven't heard or read anything about it before.

Google search it bro.. A lot of people have reported it and usually end up getting the RRoD afterwards.

All I found was people saying it might be the DVD drive scratching. But there is not even one scratch on my disc.

I have taken apart tons of 360s and i can guarantee there isn't any kind of speaker or anything to beep. the only thing it could be is either the dvd drive or the hdd squeaking

I really doubt it's the hard drive cause thats never a good sign, and it seems fine. I don't know too much about the DVD drives in 360s, but it's like a BIOS beep and I don't see why either would make that sound.

Well, after a bit of searching, the only component that has the ability to "beep" is the internal buzzer in the DVD drive. Other things that can cause noise is a disk scratching, or if one of the fans is going out. But most likely it's your dvd drive.

and if you're wondering why the dvd drive would beep, that would be because it's getting some sort of error. For the one on my pc, it beeps if it has power calibration errors, or even if it reads a bad disk.

So the beep from the dvd drive is a bad thing? I haven't had any problems with it so I have no idea what would be bad.

360 BEEP

Hey I just bought a 360 at the end of Feb and I'm getting the beep too. It sounds exactly like the BIOS beep when you hold too many keys down at once. Also, I've been getting a ton of error messages on my games saying that the disc is dirty. I have a warranty on my 360. Should I just take it back and get a new one? And if so, what do I say for my 'reason for return'?

I would.

Just tell them it gives off a loud beep and you get errors.
