List of questions concerning cables,programs and my HDD

Okay well obviously im new to these forums. But please no Flaming about my post count as im not new to every forum.

Okay well I'm really interested in the Mods for borderlands I've seen.

Okay well here is the questions:

I've been reading everywhere about this for hours...But if i bought lets say a Datel action replay transfer cable...do i have to purchase xport or can i just download it?

Will a 20gb HDD work for xport?

Is a transfer kit and xport all i would need besides like xplorer360, hex editor and, programs of that matter?

Hopefully someone is willing to help me out with a couple answers??
