| Novice | WAVE 4 game updating loop problem Hi everyone, I'm having the following problem: I ran a activate.iso disc (burned properly as I get the insert disc white screen) fine, then popped in MW2 and I get a game update screen and I select the update and it finishes, reboots the xbox with the MS xbox symbol screen and loops back to the update again. This process repeats over and over. I tried a friends Hard Drive and the same thing happens. When we removed the Hard Drive the game will work fine without the update request. I heard/read of someone having the same loop problem but they solved it by updating with a different HDD. Does anyone have a solution to this? Maybe the copy of the game I have doesn't have the right updates/problem with the updates? Thanks in advance for the help. |

| :( ![]() | Re: WAVE 4 game updating loop problem I would just say try clearing your cache. I don't think it has anything to do with the game, sometimes 360's just mess up like that. If you clear your cache it may ask you to update once, but not multiple times and it should get you out of the loop. |

| Novice | Re: WAVE 4 game updating loop problem Well, I tried clearing the cache but no luck with that. I get the same problem. As for playing MW2 before release, I don't care about XBL anyway so oh well ![]() Thanks for the suggestions so far guys(keep em coming!). I'll keep trying to figure it out and maybe try another HDD. |

| Member | Re: WAVE 4 game updating loop problem so if you dont care about xbox live then why update? the update is to fix bugs and stop mods and **** and if your not playing on live then you can deny the update and should be able to play it |

| Novice | Re: WAVE 4 game updating loop problem I can't save the game progress or load profiles since the HDD plugged in means the update keeps looping. When I take the HDD out the game works fine but I can't save it. |

| :( ![]() | Re: WAVE 4 game updating loop problem Hmmm. Does this only happen with MW2? If so I would suggest reburning your activate.iso disc or your MW2. One of which is causing the problem, but who knows which one. If you do reburn MW2 then make sure to download the newest retail version. |

| Novice | Re: WAVE 4 game updating loop problem Yeah if you choose to not update it goes to the dashboard and the process repeats when you load the game from there. I guess I'll try reburning both and see what happens. I'll post the results in case anyone else has the same problem! Thanks again for the help. Just to post an update: I'm seeing a bunch of people reporting the same issue on torrent comment sections and such. It may have to do with the version of the game you download although I don't know why the problem is not present for everyone if they download that same version. The best bet is a retail rip or maybe it has to do with the versions that come stealth patched. I'll try out some other games eventually and see how those react. |

"I ran a activate.iso disc (burned properly as I get the insert disc white screen)".... if you get tht message then you burned it wrong lol you should get a message saying play dvd. |

| Novice | Re: WAVE 4 game updating loop problem I'll give that a try in the future, thanks! I'm going to try Tekken 6 out now and will post if it too messes up. OK, I got some answers finally! I ran Tekken 6 and it updated fine and played. Then I tried PES2010 (which wouldnt work for me with the HDD plugged in) and it did not need the update and played just fine as well. Then I tried MW2 and still needed my activate.iso disc but when I popped that in and then put MW2 in it worked without asking for updates. THIS IS ALL WITH THE HDD PLUGGED IN. It seems the update files on the version of MW2 I had were not there and thus the problem. I have my FW updated to 1.61 but MW2 still needs the activate disc (although I can keep the HDD plugged in now) so it's a matter of getting a good(prob retail) copy of the game that works 100% with all the updates included. I hope this helps out some ppl with similar problems! Now to find a good version of MW2...lol |

| Novice | Re: WAVE 4 game updating loop problem I have the same problem... Although the burned copy works on a friend's 360 with the same firmware update, its not working on mine... i can play other copies except for mw2 and dragon origins. I found a solution. download this file which is to update your xbox for wave 4 games: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service unzip the folder which password is: @simitrio move the folder to a pen drive thats formatted in FAT32 *the pen drive should only have the $SystemUpdate folder or it wont work if you have some other junk stored. connect the pen drive to your xbox 360 and restart, it should prompt you for a system update. Do the update and try and play your game =D |
