New Heat Sinks?

Hi all - I've got a question i hope some one can answer:

I previously had an xbox 360 with an hitatchi drive, I flashed the xbox using the noobs tutorial and all was fine... until the RROD striked! I know the flashing doesnt have anything to do with the RROD but my computer illiterate friend doesnt understand/believe that. I had ONE HELL OF A TIME getting my xbox replaced.

My friend has a hitatchi drive and would like his xbox flashed but wants to be re-assured his xbox wont get the RROD. Basically what i'm asking is:

Q1: How do I tell if his xbox has a newer heat sink? So to make sure it wont get the RROD.

Q2: His xbox mas manufactured on '2006-09-06'. After what dates were the new heat sinks installed?
