A lot of the tutorials that I have been reading state that I need a "T10 and a T8" bit.
Am I right to assume that its a "standard T10 and T8", and not a "security T10 and T8"?

Re: Opening the 360

Fast posting...

The screws on the hard drive aren't security T6s as far as I can see...

Yeah... I don't have the security bits, and the website which I ordered everything to fix the RRoD costs quite a bit for delivery, and has the security bits for a good price... Ah well, if I need the security bits, I just pop down to Maplin.

You don't need security tips but i would get them if i was you and you don't even need a torx screw driver if you have the right sized flat head .

Re: Opening the 360

Regular T8 and T10 are what you need to open the case. And buying those RROD kits online isn't a great idea, you pay more and sometimes don't get high-quality thermal paste like AS5. You can get the screws and bolts at a hardware store for like $4, the thermal paste and ArctiClean (not required but a good idea, I use it for RROD fixes) from newegg for $10 and a Torx screw set that has sizes T5-T15 from Home Depot or Lowes for $5.
