Yeah, I think half the reason is people who steal accounts and then one account can get like 20000+ points from stolen accounts then yeah... But it is also for the gift thing. I dunno, we ARE talking about microsoft though.

I believe when you send the gift, it is just like buying something in the marketplace. Normally you would have to buy the MS points if you didn't already have enough on your account to send. Last I remember you can send ones that were on your account. This Christmas I don't know.
