Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Award(s): 0  | Unanswered: Replacing my Drive? I purchased a new Samsung DVD Drive for my 360 but after I'm done with the install, I put in ANY disk, and I get a bunch of foreign words, looks like Chinese/Japanese. Any help?   | ||||||

The new drive needs to either have the mainboard from the old drive or the drive key from the old drive flashed to the new mainboard for it to work. 360 drives aren't plug-and-play like Xbox drives were. Each console has a specific drive key and it won't use a drive unless it has the key flashed to it. | ||||||

I didn't realize they were not plug an play  I had a Ben-Q drive and I tried to replace it with a Samsung, Because my Ben-Q was a bit faulty and scratched a few games( not good ones but still). I tried some recommended fixes on it but I decided to get a new drive instead. Does that help you understand it a bit better? | ||||||

Dump the firmware from your new one, insert the key from the other drive, then flash it back. You might aswell mod the Xbox while you're at it. Sorry I can't go into more detail right now. Look around the site for tutorials (actually, check XboxScene instead). | ||||||
