Gutswap question

So I just bought that 360 deal at walmart this past saturday and got a 100 dollar gift card. I'm thinking about gutswapping and exchanging so I have two working 360's. My problem is that the old xbox doesn't have a hdmi port but the new xbox does. If I gut swap then, the whole where then the av and hdmi port looks kind of weird. I'm pretty sure a service associate wouldn't check or know to notice this but what are the chances of a guy from electronics coming to check and also the warranty sticker is going to be on there nice and perfect. So whats your advice fellow se7en sin members?

Re: Gutswap question

this is all hypothetical and is in no way a guide for people to follow, but...

this would definately fail if it was sent back to Microsoft for inspection. i guess you could try your idea though. maybe try to time it for when a young female employee is working. from experience, they seem less likely to do a thorough check of your console, than the male employees.

and i would definately use a fake name and address if they ask for your contact details, after doing the return.

in all, you probably have a very slim-to-zero chance of this working...

which for some people is damn good odds... LoL

Wait your saying a gut swap WON'T work? I've done it once, and I took it back to the lady, she didnt even open the box to check if the headset or anything was in there. The return policy is that the package not be opened, but the sticker they use is crap and peels easily off, and can be put back on easy. All you have to make sure is the serial number is the same as the one you bought. You probably dont even need to gut swap except switch the stickers on the back of the consoles. Only thing I regret is not switching my broken headset with a new one.

Edit: I kind of didn't answer the OPs question. If the new one has an HDMI port, keep the bottom half(that has the HDMI hole) and just put the old case on the one your sending back. Probably sounds confusing but all you do is make it so the HDMI bottom half goes on with ur old top half. Im sure you can figure it out.

Re: Gutswap question

ok listen

the serial number is on the top half of the case and hdmi slot is on bottom so........ swap metal case of broken xbox and bottom with metal case and bottom of new 360. then the old(now new) xbox will have hdmi and the new(now broken) xbox will look like an old arcade with no hdmi and no one will no

Re: Gutswap question

i did the same thing the only differnce is that i brought mines from best buy. you take the bottom of the old xbox and put the new top on it. that it. it will work. and walmart is the best way 2 go cause they dont stock it back. they just write it off. unlike bestbuy if its not open they re-stock it.

Re: Gutswap question

well i dont know about that. as long as the bottom isnt ****ed then they shouldnt notice. every time i did it one side of the case was nice looking and the other want so i just tryed to make it look pretty even. yes dont do best buy i almost got caught there. my psu didnt fit the xbox and i was like i dont know i didnt use this one so they had to have a manager come and took like 20 minutes for them to inspect and give me my money back.

Re: Gutswap question

gutswap gamestop for a used one that you've inspected for a dvd drive you want and no seals broken (as far as you know) Hope for the best... it would be worth a benq drive seeing as their the best. also gamestop doesn't check seals only back serials.

Re: Gutswap question

Just make sure your smart about it. In my area the Walmart Customer Service people are well versed in the moronic phone book swap. They have electronics come over and look at anything being returned that has considerable value.
