I got banned from XBL so I decided I'd call M$ and see if i can trick them into saying anything.

So I called I said I purchased a 2nd hand Console today and It will NOT connect to XBL.

Her reply was "So let me get this straight, you got banned for playing Call of duty?"

I was like. No I don't own COD LOL.

Xbox is perma banned - they don't unban and wont unban.

** key point here is I gave them a different GT that has never even seen a game.

tbh it serves you right, you should of waited. It comes out in 6 days, and now you have to buy a whole new xbox just becuase you played on it a few days early.

niether of you know what you are talking about, the information about the games you play offline is stored on a chip and then sent to microsoft as soon as you connect to live,

It does not matter whether you unplug your ethernet cable or remove your HDD. A memory unit that you do not know of is storing data about which games your playing. This data is then transferred to Microsoft once you reconnect to Xbox Live. The only way to be smart about this is if you play a retail copy of the game and NOT before the release date.

You can't say you wasn't warned. Don't be mad at MS you got banned.

It stores info about what you've played on the NAND, all you need to do is play a few legit discs before you next connect.

And he does somewhat deserves what he got, i decided to play it safe and wait for the release rather than risking a £130 console for the sake of playing a game 6 days before anyone else.

@ everyone saying it stores stuff on the NAND. I think venomous fire has decrpyted it and said that it doesnt store anything about played games on there.
Ive heard that it stores WHEN you played on it, so unplug your hdd and ethernet cable, and change the time to whenever, so when you connect to XBL AFTER it has been released, ms will not be able to see when you actually played it.

Major Nelson posted on his page that it doesnt matter if you bought the box second hand, there is no warranty and the ban can never be removed.

they have removed bans here recently for people getting banned unneccessarily...ie people reviewing the game.

But thats very few and far between.

Also, they have banned people who got the game legit from a store early...and guess what. If you have the receipt...they remove it.

well i have a legit copy of MW2 that i purchased in mexico.
and played on live..i called since i was wondering what the hell they would say..
dude says DONT PLAY onlive with a legit copy since m$ will bann ANYONE for playing early. legit or a copy u will get BANNED.
I told him maybe they should punish the retail stores that release them early not the PEOPLE playing..tisk tisk
