$100.00 fee for E 74 error?!

That just does not seem right in any way. I bought it in Dec. 2006 and they know and we know all the 2006 models had problems. You can get your 360 repaired for free if it's the RROD but I only have 1 Red Light in the ring. They said I have to pay $100 bucks to have it repaired. That's almost half of what I paid for it. Any ideas on how I could get out of $100 fee without the "Just buy another Xbox".

Simple, tell them you have the RRoD. About 2 weeks ago I sent in a 360 with a bad DVD Drive, told them it had the RRoD. Recieved a perfectly working one a few days ago.

Its called lying.....its a new fad invented back in the 80s, along with teh AIDS.

And they dont check if they have the RROD, they basically recieve a box, open it, then through the xbox away and send you a new one.

Funner isnt a word. lol. as for getting out of the fee just do as everyone else does, Tell them the Xbox Spontaniusly got RRoD in the middle of a CoD4 game. you may want to wait it out for a couple days tho. just incase they Flagged your name or Xbox Serial number.

Oh believe me I know how to lie. It's just that my friend Vincent did that and they returned it unfixed do to the fact that what was wrong with it was not what he told them. Think this would happen?

I doubt it. If you have to just bang it around a lil bit or wrap it in a blanket and leave it on for a few hours till you get the 3 RRoD.

Do what I did. Tape all the air holes on the 360 and let it cook.

So I can make it get the RRoD even though it alrad y has the 1 Ring? And wouldn't cooking it in towels just make it get the 2 rings for over heating? Whats an easy way to get the RRoD?

The easiest way would be taping all the air holes shut. It'll heat up in minutes where the towel trick allows some breathing. Just be sure to watch your 360, I did it for about 20 minutes without a fire or anything and it got very hot.

Okay, I get that. But the one question is; wont it just shut itself off because of the over heating???

no... there's no safety shutdown like that. It'll just continue getting hotter and hotter until it breaks and gets the RRoD.

Its sad they never implemented any features like that which probably every computer has integrated into the motherboard.
