Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Award(s): 0 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | simple NAT fix? on my friend's xbox the other day, we were just messing around so i said "hey, i heard something about a standby button on the modem allowing you to cheat" (not knowing what i was talking about or doing, lol) so i hit the buttton. and then we noticed a lot less lag (he used to have a strict NAT) and he texted me today and said he NAT was open. so i thought back to what could have changed, and i remembered the standby button. so i hit mine (i also have a strict, but i have it set up in my router's setting to open it for my xbox) then i took off the port forward on my router, and i still had open NAT. how could hitting standby have done something like that? (idk what standby means by the way. but we both went from strict to open ) | ||||||

Well, standby is when you're host and you use a lag-switch, or the standby button on a few modems, to pretty much use you being "host", as an advantage over other players, and being able to kill them and stuff while they cannot kill you for whatever time period you have hit the lag-switch or standby button. I do not see why that would open a STRICT NAT. So unless someone else can come up with an answer, I cannot be much more help. | ||||||

Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Award(s): 0 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: simple NAT fix? oh, well this actually created problems with my xbox after about a day of playing with my new found was of opening the NAT. i did about 3 xbox live connection tests before i posted that it made it go to open. and they all said it was open. but then, it went back down to strict, so i set my xbox's port forward again. oh, no one do this, cause now my friend that i did it to (before i even knew about this opening the NAT) cant even connect to xbox live. the tests make it pass the ICMP thing, but fail at XBL. lol.
