Microsoft Does Not Really Check For Stuff :D!

Yeah like the title says they don't check for ****.

My friend brought over his HDMI 360 Pro 3 weeks ago. I had bought an X Clamp Replacement kit for it. Anyways it was untouched I only modded it.

I really thought I could fix it, the error code was 0024 ? Never heard of that did the X Clamp it worked for 1 hour before getting 0102. Over heated it and it worked for 1 hour again, now it was giving 0021. I knew there was no hope left, 0021 sucks. So I let it bake for 15 min, and now it was giving 0034?

I decided to let it bake so in my eagerness to see if it was working I burned my finger on the heatsink. I had a big open wound on my hand and I burned it . So I take the screw driver and smash the heatsink. Now the 360 wont work at all . Still being pissed I took the screw driver and sawed the board with it. Anyways it was time for plan B.

I put the smashed heatsink back on (Taped it with tape). I had bought a RROD console from Ebay like 1 month ago, it had 0021 I had fixed it with heatgun but the seller had swapped the drives. He put some random MS28 that would not eject.

I swapped his working BENQ, and put in that ****ty MS28, taped the heatsinks, screwed the console in with 6 screws. (Lost the rest), and put a fresh virgin warranty sticker from my 06 box.

I sent it in about 2 weeks ago, and today I got a replacement unit back. With Opus, and Lite-On .

So yeah all I am saying is if you have a warranty sticker, you will get a replacement.

Re: Microsoft Does Not Really Check For Stuff :D!

So explain how you're getting a "4" in the secondary error codes, since the highest number you can get is 3.

When you first send it in they just check for a sticker and throw it into a pile of consoles to be refurb'd. They could get you later when they go to refurbish the console.

Re: Microsoft Does Not Really Check For Stuff :D!

its true they dont check for stuff, ive sent in a flashed one and got it repaired and got the same one back with a new drive.i sent it in again after it had been opened since i got it back(i just did the hair-dryer trick on the sticker)and they fixed it again.
and the best one was my friend sent in one that hed swapped the dvd drive with another drive after bricking it and they sent him a refurbed one..but..
i did send in a legit rrod one and they "fixed"it,but when it came back it was screwed,it jus kept goin thru the initial set up screen over and over..so...i got a friends reciept from one he just bought and took it back to the store where he bought it and the store(after alot of arguing about i should call M$ not take it to the store)swapped it for a new console!a pro with 60gb hdd!yay.

has anyone else got one with a new 60gb hdd?do they know anything about the specs for the new hdd cos it seems much quicker loading times?

You hold Sync+Eject "4" times.

0102 is a common code is that not 4? Or is that 3?

You can't get a 4 in the secondary error code. The highest you can get is 3.

No its 4. 0102 is 4. 0021 is 4? 0020 is 4?

Is this 3 or 4? If its 3 I must go back to grade 1 and learn how to count.

Re: Microsoft Does Not Really Check For Stuff :D!

My cousin gave me one of his old 360's for free. it had rrod, but it was opened from before the warranty was extended. It doesn't have a sticker. If I send it in, will they:
a) fix it
b) keep it and charge me
c) send it back and charge me
d) just send it back

Depends if you like messed it up badly from the inside and they have proof you opened it then the answer is D)

If they dont have proof you didnt mess w/ the guts then A) but you have a 25/100 chance or so...

Re: Microsoft Does Not Really Check For Stuff :D!

Either way, as long as i don't get charged, I'm good. Only thing done is opened and applied thermal. Looks exactly the same as my friend's stock though.

Re: Microsoft Does Not Really Check For Stuff :D!

1ic1 it was x clamped but the drive was a Samsung. So a Samsung MS28 in a late 07 console ><!

It was not even X Clamped the heatsinks were taped!

I think I'm gonna try to send it in. I don't think they'd charge. I think they'd just send it back or maybe even fix it
I hope they don't charge.

if you have an rrod and u send it in they will fix it regardless (some guy told me) of the warranty sticker (but needs to be untouched on the insides)

Re: Microsoft Does Not Really Check For Stuff :D!

well I redid the thermal. not too noticeable though. It actually still has the run-over thermal around the edges of the chips. I never fully cleaned it up so it kinda looks stock.

it has to look untouched and if yours has tape on it remove it and put another one if you have any spares

What do you mean by tape? residue left from the sticker under the face plate? If that's the case, I'll jack one from a friend or ask if I can borrow one.
