This tutorial shows you how to soft mod your 4.2 system without indiana jones. I have wrote this tutorial as a lot of people have had troubles with the 4.2 system.

How to soft mod your 4.2 system without Indiana Jones


Requirements
SD card
SD card adapter
Computer with Winrar
Wii
Wii system update 4.2



Step-by-Step guide

Download: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

1.Download the file above and extract the files to the root of your sd card


2. Turn on your Wii and put in your SD card. Click on the SD card icon and the files from the sd card shall load.

It will tell you if you paid your were scammed etc just press 1 to continue. It will then tell you what you can download it should say

Homebrew
dvdx
bootmii


3. press continue. Click install Homebrew channel it shall only take a few seconds. Also install DVDx but when you are to install bootmii. Install bootmii as boot 2 or if that option is not available click boot as an IOS.


You can now exit it.



4. It will know take you to the Homebrew channel (You will see several applications)




5. click on cIOS28R14 installer then click load




6.A new screen will load with some random music and it will ask you' select an IOS for installation'




7.Firstly try it with the IOS250 if this doesn't work your wii will freeze but dont worry just restart your wii load up the homebrew channel and click on the installer once again but use either

I0S222,IOS223,IOS249

hopefully one of those should work for you.


8. keep on pressing A until it prompts you to select 'custom ios installation mode'



9. use the left and right pad to select NETWORK installation not WAD installation.




10.Press A to continue


then wait for it to completely finish it might take a while it should say successful check for errors if no errors your fine to continue if you have an error try again or use a different ios. If its done correctly it should say success and will ask you to



11. press any button to restart.




12. Once your Wii has restarted load up the homebrew channel once again.




13. Scroll across until you see WAD manager open it




14. you will then have to choose an ios keep that as default but make sure below it says Wii sd slot.



15. Then press A to continue then scroll down to [wad]



16. click A to continue once again



17.then you will see Neo Gammar7.wad press A to continue



18. press A again to continue and wait for it to install it should only take a few seconds.



19. Wait until its installed and press A several times until its says 'BYE'

It will take you back to the homebrew channel



20. Exit to the wii system menu and you will now see the Neo Gamma channel.

You can now use your downloaded wii games and dvd's by using neogamma to launch the games.If you use a usb device for your games just use the USB loader i have included in the apps in Homebrew

I have tried to make this tutorial as clear as possible for you but if you have any questions just reply and i will try help you as much as I can. Hopefully i will have my capture card up and running in a few weeks so i can make a better tutorial

very little chance but like with everything there is a slight chance, but if you wanna backup your wii so if you get bricked you can do a system restore look at this thread

when you say my wii freezes do you mean that the screen freezes, but theres music and my controller lights flash? thatss what happens to me with every IOS i chose.

sorry im new to modding wii's, im used to 360's lol

alright i just found out i semibricked it. is there a way to reverse this? i knew i should've backed it up...

nvm i didnt semibrick it, i put the game in backwards

Its fine, if the IOS doesn't work you wii will not respond and your controller will disconnect try all the IOS not just the ones i suggested. Sometimes the program can be very slow also try putting the .dol from the hack mii folder to the app your having problems with. Also this works for around 90% of people im sorry if doesn't work. 4.2 is a pain in the arse even though i got everything to work i was just fed up and downgraded to system menu 3.3, if you wanna learn how to do this check this tutorial out How to Downgrade from 4.2 to 3.2. If you play online and you need wii speak so you need 4.1 pm me and i will make a package for you.

hey, thanks for the tutorial, but when ever I try to install bootmii in any of the options, i get a Mounting SD card... FAILED (-1). Any idea how to fix this?

boot mii isn't essential so its fine and no problem

Ok im new to this kind of stuff but I have made a backup file no problem but when I try to use the homebrew all I get is bubbles. Am I doing something wrong I printed out the steps and the backup one worked with no problems but I just can't seem to get the homebrew to work.

np, having the bubbles screen only just means that you haven't got any homebrew applications. The file i included should have a lot of apps included. Make sure you always have the apps file on the root on your sd card if you have lost the file i will upload them now.

one more my buddy told me to use wad in the cIOS28R14 installer I used every one with Network and got error everytime. Is it safe to use wad? Also can I just install Neo Gamma channel without the other and play burned games?

Yes you should install the cIOS28R14 installer. Some people have IOS errors a lot theirs nothing you can do its just bad luck !. Also go ahead and try install as Wad it should be fine. If you have installed neo gamma and have it as a channel etc. It should be fine and you can play burned games.
