Softmodding a Wii
3.4-4.1

Note - Only Japan has 4.1 released.
EDIT: 7/15/09 - 4.1 released in USA/Europe

You'll Need:
  1. Nintendo Wii
  2. SD Card
  3. Bannerbomb - bannerbomb
  4. Homebrew Channel - The Homebrew Channel

Tutorial:
  1. Download Bannerbomb,The Homebrew Channel, and The HackMii Installer. (Bannerbomb - Get "aad1f_v108.zip")
  2. You should have three folders now; Entitled "private", "homebrew_browser", and "hackmii_installer_beta2"
  3. In the HackMii folder name the one file it consists of if it is not already to "boot.dol" if it is a .dol file or "boot.elf" if it is a .elf file.
  4. Important - Format your SD Card.
  5. Copy the three folders on your desktop into the root of your SD card.
  6. Make a folder in the root of your SD card named "apps". (Note - this is where homebrew Applications will be saved by the Homebrew Browser)
  7. Turn on your Wii.
  8. Go to Wii Options > Data Management > Channels > SD Cards
  9. After you lick on SD Cards, insert your SD Card.
  10. A dialog box should pop up, saying "Install boot.dol/boot.elf file?"
  11. Click yes. Your Wii should now reboot.
  12. When your Wii boots up you will be brought to the HackMii Installer.
  13. Three Items, one of which being the homebrew channel, will show up. ( Green Text-Install will work Yellow-Have to install as an IOS Red-No Install for You)
  14. Install all three.
  15. Take your SD card out and reboot your Wii. The homebrew channel should be installed. Also your Wii should be able to play DVDs now.
Troubleshooting:

Please note that Bannerbomb does not work for everyone at this time.

If your Wii freezes while trying to use Bannerbomb, follow these diagnostics:
  1. Make sure you're not trying to use the SD Menu on System Menu 4.0/4.1 (the little blue SD card button in the lower left).
  2. Check that you pressed the Channels button in Data Management.
  3. Make sure that Bannerbomb is the only channel on the SD card.
  4. Try a different version of Bannerbomb. Most people should be able to use aad1f, but some might need another version.
If you have any problems PM me and ill try my best to get it resolved.

The thanks button isnt just for looks. =)
