Install HBC onto Virgin 4.0 System

Code:
http://bootmii.org/get.php?file=hackmii_installer_beta1.zip&key=50ce087e17e9727b6d019555ab35fa8fea50f438
This is capable of installing:

  • BootMii public beta 1
  • The Homebrew Channel 1.0.2
  • DVDx

Now note, BootMii is in a public Beta, so use it with caution.

To use BannerBomb *For use on system menu 4.0, follow these steps:

  1. Get a SD card. If it has a private directory, rename it temporarily, e.g. to "privateold". Having other saved channels on the same card will screw it up.
  2. Download BannerBomb and unzip it onto the SD card.
  3. Get a DOL or ELF and put it on the SD as /boot.dol or /boot.elf.
  4. Press (Wii), Data Management, Channels, SD. Then insert the card. It should either pop up Load boot.dol/elf? or freeze.
  5. If it pops up a dialog, then fill out the survey.
  6. If it freezes, follow these diagnostics:
  • Did you use the SD menu (4.0) or click Savedata instead of Channels? If so, then you're dumb
  • Otherwise, try a different version. The system menu is somewhat unpredictable.
[/code]

BootMii is a piece of software that can be installed as an IOS or inserted into the boot process. As an IOS, it provides a fast way to back up your Wii's internal NAND flash memory, and will eventually form the basis of a new generation of homebrew applications for the Wii. Inserted into the boot process, BootMii provides you with a "safety net" -- you can back up your entire Wii to SD in under three minutes! If you were to brick your Wii, BootMii would still run and let you restore your backup from SD, quickly and painlessly. BootMii also allows you to directly boot the Homebrew channel or other homebrew from SD, bypassing the "warning screen" and the rest of the menu.

Just tried out BootMii installer. You need Bannerbomb for 4.0 useres who have either updated before installing HBC or those who deleted it by accident. For everyone else 3.4 or lower just use twiliteHack or HBC.
The zip file contains the launch elf for BootMii and needs the use of GC controller because Wiimote is so far not working. Once started up the installer lets you choose to install DVDX, BootMii, and Wait for it... Wait for it... HBC 1.0.2!!!
First thing off is BootMii was supposed to be released as a test beta but Team Twiizers thought knew it would just get leaked to certain sites. So they figured might as well leak it out themselves. It is a test beta so the best thing to do is to leave feedback to them at HackMii::All Projects: Tasklist . A new beta will be out later to fix some bugs.
second is in order to install HBC (or reinstall) you need to install DVDX. No biggy right? Now with HBC 1.0.2 some might cringe at this others might not care. SDHC is broke. But i am sure some of you have 512MB to 2GB cards laying around, right?
All in all i hope everyone will stop panicking about some MAGIC method to get HBC onto your Wii cause Bannerbomb creaked the door but BootMii tore it down on 4.0. Thank Team Twiizers as they deserve a big nod. They simplified installation and almost made it idiotproof, but i would hold out on installing the Bootmii part as it is still early beta if yoou are uncomfortable. I myself am undecided so far ca there are two ways to install Bootmii: IOS or boot2? I have to check my Wii's motherboard that I just bought.
Here is the link to BootMii for you

BootMii:

http://bootmii.org/get.php?file=hackmii_installer_beta1.zip&key=50ce087e17e9727b6d019555ab35fa8fea50f438
BannerBomb*to run the BootMii files on 4.0*

Sources of info:

NOTE:

If you already have HBC installed and un Homebrew I would wait for a more stable release

If the BannerBomb doesnt work, use these other versions, in this order until one works:

Code:
http://bannerbomb.qoid.us/aads/aad22_v104.zip
Code:
http://bannerbomb.qoid.us/aads/aad1e_v104.zip
Code:
http://bannerbomb.qoid.us/aads/aad26_v104.zip
Since I cannot get pictures I wont have a full tutorial, however all the information is here with mini tutorials here to get you going fine.

Re: Install HBC onto Virgin 4.0 System

WOOT thanks i will post my results happily when i get the SD Card reader in a little bit

Alright! so with the LoadMii (idiot me forgot to put it on the SD Card the first time...) but anyways with LoadMii you can run the installer which mine did, only problem.. dont have the Gamecube controller right now.. so i will have to get that before i can post if this works on a virgin wii 4.0 or not so far it looks good though!

WORKS! 100% this works for a virgin 4.0 system! took me a few extra minutes then i wanted to spend but after watching a Youtube video i found out what i was doing wrong xD (for those who will want the video check the end of my post) i didn't install the BootMii because i don't have a Gamecube controller of my own so i wouldn't be able to do anything without it due to BootMii doesn't work with the WiiMote but other then my slight slow moments i got this working, thanks for the post and thanks to the people who made this happen

Re: Install HBC onto Virgin 4.0 System

good exploit for the wii, using a buffer overflow in a banner to run arbitrary code... Genious.
