How to mod a WII (NEW TUT WITH 3.4 fix)

I just remembered that as soon as I got my wii [I didn't think of modding it at the time] I had done a system update. It's firmware is at 3.4U right now, I don't think that it's the same as 3.4 [the latest update twilight hack covers]. Could I still mod it? If so, I'm doing it today, but what CAN'T I do with the firmware I'm running?

To save my dignity:
I'm sure the "U" just stands for "Update", but since I handled PSP firmware, I've come to assume that letters also designate what firmware I'm running.

You can mod it. The "U" actually stand for united states. "E" for Europe and so on. I have you covered in the tut. Just fallow along. I will be doing updates to it this week. Hopefully getting some pictures.

thanks again, I'm going to get an SD card reader right now. And I'm borrowing an SD card from my friend's mom's camera. But let's say I wanted a few roms and emu's, would I have enough space on the Wii itself [i can't KEEP the SD card]. It's hard to tell because nintendo is gay and they measure their crap in "blocks." how much is one "block?" a couple of meg's? help plz

Homebrew only reads off the sd card. It will not pick up programs off the WII's internal memory. So you must have the sd card. To even run back ups. You can get cheap ones now.

actualy...i did manage to pick up my own SD card that day. it was only 6 bucks. but i cant find a copy of LOZ TP. im going out hunting for it again today though, wish me luck!

hey ninja just started doing your tut. im at step 5 under the downgrading to 3.2 firmware but when i run the ios downgrader v1.1 im getting an error rep -116. im wondering do i need to be online for this step to work??? because in your tut you said let it download

You will need to have a wirelss net connection at all times during this. Some things require it. Also little hint. If you dont want to actually downgrade. You can skip that step You can run everything in 3.4 if you want.

When you say. "WIFI connection if you have 3.3 or 3.4 version WII" so mean mean I have to connect it to the net with a wifi connection, or can i just use a cable, and do I need to connect it to the internet?

I honestly have not tried it from the cable adapter piece but the program should pick it up so you should be fine. It just needs to read an active internet connection. It downloads files off the net.

You dont have to downgrade. I just show people how. Just skip it. I will fix the post to where its optional.

I have mine downgraded to 3.2 and it runs backups like a dream. Did i not have too? I would like to know if I can just go to 3.4 and redo somethings. Just let me know what I can do and what the guidelines are. thanks.

only thing with 2.4 is the big N can update **** at any time w/o you knowing if your Wii is online. I know from experience on one of my systems. N updated it and my homebrew channel stopped working.
