Super Smash Bros. Brawl Review

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Review
So I finished it. Or, at least I finished the Subspace Emissary (The new Adventure Mode which I will talk about later). It'd be extremely hard to beat the entire game. But after a little more than nine hours and fifteen minutes, I had finally beaten the Subspace Emissary (SE). When the credits rolled onto the screen, I heaved a sigh of relief and sat there. I was a little upset that I had tried to get it over with and I began to worry that now I had beaten the SE, there would be nothing left to make me want to keep playing... Boy was I wrong! This game is LOADED! It has just about everything that a Nintendo fan could ever wish for and is so stuffed with goodies that it could make a fat kid at mc donalds pass out. IT'S THAT GOOD! But that's not to say that this game is without flaw. There are some parts in the game that will make you want to pull your hair out, but those are minor problems. First off let's begin with the Subspace Emissary (SE). Basically what it is is the new Adventure Mode. For those who have never played a Smash Bros game or do not care enough about starving kittens, Adventure Mode is a single player "mini-game" if you will. In Melee, you were in this space with a door. You walked through the door, fought someone, then returned to the space to heal and prepare for your next fight. A story line has always been something that Smash games lacked, but this takes care of it. SE follows the story line of a bunch of characters who come together over time to face a common enemy. This common enemy has been using bombs to envelope arenas and castles, and freeze good characters into their stone trophy-like form. This is played out through cut scenes. The cut scenes do not feature any voices or talking, however, the graphics in them are absolutely beautiful. They are on par with some of the best 360 games most of the time the cut scenes feel just like mini 25 second movies. The graphics in the entire game are gorgeous (well for the Wii). They are pushing the game to it's limits and look beautiful while doing it. Image However, the game play in the SE is not so good. You basically run through a 2D platform level and fight creatures such as primids, and small bosses. The boss fights are very challenging, but still don't require anything except pressing the attack button fifty times in 2.4 seconds then waiting for them to do an attack like falling on you. The controls do not lend themselves to the game play of jumping onto platforms and attacking small creatures. The jumps are just too inaccurate. But these are minute flaws compared to the intertwining story line that the SE weaves using epic cut scenes. But after the 8 to 10 hours you spend playing SE, you may want something else to do. Well there's a problem with that. There are so many things to do that it's hard to choose just one. Between the stage builder, classic mode, events, recording your games, trophies, stickers, and online play, you'll have no idea where to go next. Let's move to the online play. Image Honestly, I was expecting the online play to suck. But It turned out to be a ton better than I thought. You can play with friends (using friend codes), or with anyone (random, but still based on your skill level). Let's begin with the With Friends Mode because I'm sure that you all have plenty of online friends who understand you better than any real life friend would  . In this mode you have plenty of customization options. You can change the rules, stages, and pretty much do anything you could do with 4 people at your house. I have yet to play this mode because I have not added anyone to my list :cray: . The With Anyone Mode is a little different. Basically you choose your character, choose a stage, and then beat the living crap out of a practice dummy. While this is going on, your wii connects you to 3 other players. It chooses a stage randomly from the ones the players chose, and then begins the game. It does take a while to connect to other players some time, but this is pretty rare. So you've played the SE, battled a few people from that state you find annoying over the online mode, and you're now thinking "what now". Well I can't help you anymore. There are too many more things to do in this game that you cant decide. I'm not saying that it's just a game with a bunch of crappy mini-games that were put together in 5 minutes. In fact, this game is far from that. Brawl is a Nintendo game unlike any other. If you do not own a Wii, or this game and there is any thought at all about getting this game, don't wait. You will not be disappointed! :yahoo: I'll give this game a 9.9/10 simply because of the SE controls (which aren't as bad as I made them sound, but could have been better )
