This tutorial works with all firmware versions up to 3.1.2
This is a Windows and Mac tutorial

Here are Step by Step instructions on how to Hack Via Jailbreaking The iPod Touch to Allow Third Party Programs. ex. Nes.

1. Install a clean copy of the current firmware 3.1.2 and leave your iphone/ipod touch connected via USB

2. Download the following App
Windows

Mac

http://rapidshare.com/files/307826682/blackra1n.zip

3. Run the application (mac users extract then run)

4. Press the only button that says "make it ra1n"


5. Grab a cold drink while your iphone/ipod touch is being jailbroken (should take only a couple minutes)

6. On your ipod touch/iphone you will see a new app called blackra1n. Run it


7. Select Cyndia or Rock, which ever you prefer


8. Click install and watch the magic happen


9. Your springboard will restart taking you back to unlock screen. Unlock it.


10. You will see the new installed app (for me i chose Cyndia). Click black rain.


11. If you choose to do so you may Delete this app because it has no further use. Do so by tapping Uninstall blackra1n, then selecting Delete.



Congrats! Assuming everything went according to plan you now have a jailbroken iphone/ipod touch with the most current firmware. Enjoy!

An update - ALL .nes roms work with the NES emulator on the iTouch.

I havent heard of people being able to play DS games.. But why in the hell would you want to play DS games. You can play **** like PSx, SNES, NES, Dreamcast, n64 stuff like that.

you type the ip in

username is root
password is alpine

basically if your internet is laggy and slow it takes time. just leave it alone itll eventually come up

well i get to the part where you click on touchfree.exe!! then it loads up until it says "patching ipod flash image" then a message comes up saying "touchfree has encountered a problem and needs to close" and it says "send error report" or "dont send" and i click dontsend and it just closes the touchfree out and nothing happens??

what do i do??

hey im a little new to the whole hacking the itouch business, but after you hack it, can you still add music and videos normally as you would on itunes before you hack it? or is there a separate app you have to get in order to put music onto it?

it wont work for me at all right after i download the the file and extract it..... it just closes and asks if i need to send a report

my buddy has a touch and we moddded it so now we have themes and millions of games and he has ants that crawl across the screen that u can splat.u can play gameboy(we put pokemon) and so much more S#$T
