The first and foremost secret to winning at halo is to be calm. now, i know that nervousness can take hold of some people, but sometimes that is good because that keeps you on your toes. A big mistake however is playing in a bad move. If something unbelievable pisses you off, take a break, or do a game where its just for ****s n grins. Because if you are in a bad mood, your gameplay will be affected. you will suck, and get into an even worse mood, and a vicious cycle begins. Fighting Ok, so strafing is important in fights because your gonna get shat on if you stand still and shoot. My suggestions are to strafe and gandhi hop to your hearts content so you wont die. If your shields are down, you can run, but you wanna tuck your head in so you dont die. either have a teammate finish your kill or bait him with nades. Also, it is helpful to learn to bxr, bxb, and double shoot. you will win a lot more fights this way. learn unique combinations to **** on your opponent. Sniping: Learn to quickscope or quit halo. no scopes are very unreliable. the only case you should use them is if your very surprised by someone and just shoot and melee, other than that, quickscope the **** outta em. Double shot: Necessity if you want to be good. dont be afraid to leave your thumbstick and do it. unless you claw, learn to aim with your strafe. if you need to doubleshoot a jumping guy, learn how to quickly aim with the thimbstick than do the shot. remember to bxr, throw a grenade, or yy after a double shot. BXR: ok, so everyone and their mom knows how to bxr. the trick is to knowing the correct time to use it. when you are further than a sword lunge away from someone, not exactly a good time to try to bxr. if you dont kill them with the bxr, hit em with a melee after. but if they are pretty far after, shoot them. if you are not comfortable with bxr, try brx, it is actually faster than the bxr and does automatic reload off host. plus i think it feels more natural. Ok, now for 4v4. Anyone can have a decent aim. The secret to 4v4 is having a good team with good communication skills who can look out for one another. the best thing you can do is have a setup and work as a team. If you can get set up and be able to call em out, you wont die. Take Lockout for example. Most people use a standard BR strat where you take hold of the BR tower. Now this plan is easily fallable if your team isnt ready to call out where the opponents are. In a 4v4, you will more than likely always face more than one person, so you want to make sure you have another person getting your back. Learn the names of the map and communicate with your team. You also have to have trust in your teammates ability. This is like in the sniper case. **** happens, so if your teammate has the sniper, he better be damn good with it, and you wanna be comfortable enough that he will take out opponents when you call them out. This also brings up board control. on any map, control the power weapons. this paired with good teamwork and you will not fail. As for objective games, the same details above apply only you want to change your positions around to suit the gametype, such as the green room strat on team ball lockout. 2v2. This is basically the same as 4v4, except you have a lot more work to do. Communication is even more important here, because if your teammate dies, its a 1v2 for a while. you wanna make sure you guys stick together and listen. Learn to give orders and to take orders without hesitation, such as tellin your teammate to nade b3. a moments hesitation could render that nade useless, so practice. Remember to learn the names of the areas, and learn how to take control of an area. Board control is even more important in 2v2 since it is a lot harder to take the person down with 2 people. FFA Ok, there are a bunch of ways people play this, but this is mine. FFA and 4v4 are 2 completely different mindsets. in ffa, it doesnt matter if you die, and i believe this is what holds back a lot of people. but one day i was playing as an elite(dont ask) and i noticed how i couldnt really hear myself getting hit, therefore not knowing when to puss out. So here is a useful strategy. Turn down the volume, take off your mic. play music or something that makes you feel comfortable. you can even turn off vibration. this will help your ffa immensely since you will not be a ***** like you would be in a 4v4 or 2v2. Also learn how to let a kill go. Head to Head Warlock: Ok, so camo control is very important here. keep track of the times so you can get camo when it respawns. Top Middle is a good place to be, but watch out for grenades. Shotties are fun. A platform is also a good place to be so you can spawn trap your opponent. Lockout: Snipe control is very important especially if you are offhost. if you are host, open br fight em cross map. The only 2 places you should set up are bridge and around snipe 2 snipe 3. anyplace different and you are a retard. I prefer sniper because i like the multiple plasma spawns and the snipe spawn, less places they can get to you, and you can make an easy escape if injured. Learn sticks off cielings to perfect holding down sniper tower. Every time you kill a guy, i command you to throw a plasma at bridge and the cieling of blue 2. Rumble Pit: Same as FFA but get power weapons on maps that have them. Double Team: Same as MLG Double team, but weapon and board control more important with smg start Skirmish: Same as 4v4. learn different strats to complete your objective. Slayer: Same as 4v4 but weapon control more important with smg start THC:EXACTLY like 4v4. BTB: You dont really need to do **** in this game. bring like 5 or 6 good people into a match and you wont loose most of the time. a lot of btbers are nubcakes i might be done for now... Thanks and +rep would be appreciated.
