I am writing this tutorial to help people be better at halo 2 MLG gametypes or even halo 2 all around. By following this tutorial, it doesn't ensure that you will be "godly" at halo 2 because the best way to learn is just to play a lot and learn first hand. Index:

Things To Remember
Even though Halo 2 is a "Run-N-Gun kind of game, it still pays off to use common since.
Here is a list of things you should think about when you're in a game:
1. One of the most common things that will get you killed is chasing. What I mean by that is when you put someone down to no-shield and they go around a corner, you chase them around that corner and 9 times out of 10 the will have a grenade waiting for you and you will die. It is best to let your teammate flank him and finish him off or in FFA it is okay to let some kills go because there will always be more people on the map.
2. Nervousness. When you get nervous, you play bad. It's a fact. You will find that if you just keep your cool when you are playing, you will almost always come out on top.
For example, if two people were fighting (Let's say with BRs) and one person is nervous and the other person is relaxed, the relaxed person is going to get 4 easy head shots on him to finish him off and the nervous person will be jumping up and down and shooting the wall next to the guy. Just relax and you will find that you have much better results.
3. Strafing. Strafing is the ideal thing to do when you are in a BR fight, or any other kind of fight really... For those of you that don't know, Strafing is when you use the left thumb stick to walk back and forth quickly to make yourself and hard target. If you walk in a strait line towards your enemy, he hardly even has to try when he is killing you because it is VERY easy to kill a stationary target. There are all kinds of different strafes that you can do; side to side, or even more complicated ones like Left Right Left Jump.

Teams (2v2 and 4v4)
2v2
Two Versus Two is one of the harder Team gametypes. Not only do you constantly have to rely on your teammate for backup but it also comes down to team work and skill on your part. In 2v2, you MUST have some kind of "Strategy" planned. Not necessarily
a "You-Go-Here-And-I-Go-Here" kind of strategy but more of a "Back-Each-Other-Up" kind of thing. And a major contributing factor is that you know your teammate very well. It's very hard to win 2v2s when you are playing with a random.
4v4
In Four Versus Four gametypes you don't need to rely on your team as much because most of the time you are doing your separate things. But it's always a good idea to stick in a group. Four people against One or Two people is a huge advantage. Also in 4v4 games, it's ideal to "Flank" people or "Go around behind them" thus shooting them from two sides and leaving him defenseless. Weapon Control is another thing that you need to make sure you have. If you're on Relic and the enemy has both snipes, you're pretty much done for.

FFA (Free For All)
In FFA it's all about you. You don't have any Teammates to rely on to get your back and you will often find your self getting shot by 3 or 4 people at once. That's FFA for you.
The best way to avoid this is to stay in an area where you can watch your back. For Example; It's a good idea to camp at Pink Tower on Midship because you can see all sides of your territory. Also, as I said in the first part of this tutorial, don't chase, it's okay to let some kills go. If you find that you cannot find enough people to keep up with the leader, then you need to travel the map a bit more. Not unnecessarily saying you need to be every where at once because it's a good idea to stay in one spot, but simply travel your area. For Example: I am going to use Pink Tower again, no one is to say that you need to stay up in that room (P2) the whole time, travel down the ramp and into the bases occasionally. Or even onto the platform (Not such a great idea because it puts you out in the open) But it helps to travel sometimes.

Head To Head (1v1)
One on One takes pure skill on your part in order to win. It helps to know the spawn points. In 1v1 it's better to move around a bit so that your enemy cannot keep track of where you are. If you have the sniper on lockout and you just killed him from Sniper Tower, head over to Library or BR Tower. This keeps the enemy confused. Depending on the map, weapon control is crucial. If you have sniper on Lockout, you pretty much win (Assuming you can snipe). It's also a good idea to keep notes on what your enemy likes to do so you know what to expect.

MatchMaking
Rumble Pit
Rumble pit is just like FFA, so the same concepts apply as what I said in section 3 of this tutorial. Weapon control helps in this game type, it's not vital but it is a huge advantage. Also, if you know who has host, try to avoid getting in fights with him because he usually wins.
Double Team
Like I said in the 2v2 section, Double Team requires a lot of team work and communication. Unlike 2v2, Double Team requires set ups and strategies.
Team Slayer
Team Slayer is the most common game type and is one of the funnest. It's just like 4v4 games except the rules are a little different. In TS (Team Slayer) it's usually wiser to pick up a dual-wield rather than BR (<< On Small Maps) and it's also a good idea to have strategies. And just like in the 4v4 section, try to stay together as a pack and communicate.
Team Skirmish
Team Skirmish is PURE strategy. Four people rushing in at different intervals will cause you the game. You have to work out how you are going to attack or defend and weapon control is needed. It's also a good idea to act as a distraction (If you flag guy is trying to score, try leading the enemy the other way)
Team Snipers
In Team Snipers it really helps to "Camp" or "Remain Stationary". Also, avaoid poking your head out because you'll usually just get it popped off. In Team Snipers you have to call enemys out. If you tell your teammate where someone is, they can get him from the side while he's distracted on you.
Team Hardcore
Hardcore stands by it's name. If you're not a true halo 2 player, don't play Team Hardcore. THC (Team Hard Core) is nothing but strategies and communication. Hardcore is full of objective games so just like Team Skirmish, you have to use team work. In hard core you start with BRs and there is usually no Dual-Wield weapons so Sniper, Rocket, Sword and Shotty are a Must-Have.
BTB Skirmish
BTB Skirmish is pretty much the only gametype that takes any real skill. In order to win, you have to use strategy and teamwork. Meaning, just like Team Skirmish, you have to have planned out your attack. It sometimes helps to split into groups and attack from opposite sides.

Weapon Tips
Battle Rifle
The BR is a very useful weapon and is a big help in all game types. Just because it's useful doesn't mean it's "Easy" to use. Someone who plays THC or MLG gametypes and use BRs all day is sure to be victor over someone who is used to playing Team Training (usually start with swords or other dumb stuff) It is very helpful to have a steady BR. A nervous person with a shaky BR is going to lose most of the time. There are many different glitches you can do with the BR.
Sniper Rifle
The Sniper Rifle helps alot in halo 2. It's an instant kill weapon and is a huge advantage to the user. Although it is so powerful, it still takes skill. When you are using a Sniper Rifle and you think you see someone, zoom in where you saw them and wait for them to poke thier head out. When you use the Sniper Rifle, getting shot makes you unzoom so try to take your shot quickly. Although rushing your shot can cause you problems. It helps to look at your enemy then zoom in, then you don't have to do a lot of aiming while you're zoomed in. If you get shot while trying to aim when you are zoomed in your shot will go WAY off.
