As the title says, Xbox LIVE has recently added the ability for gamers to unlock different discounts on products if they have attained a certain Gamerscore.

As videogamer.com mentions, if gamers have between 3,000-9,999 g.s, you will receive a "special gift" on your birthday (this is also more incentive for gamers to actually update their profiles). If you have between 10,000-24,999 g.s, you will also get a 1% rebate on all Xbox LIVE Marketplace purchases each month. Those with 25,000 or more Gamerscore will reap the benefits of 2% worth of rebates.
Fortunately, most Xbox LIVE purchases qualify for the rebates, but it's not exactly a significant savings. I can't really see it mattering much for the average gamer.

It is better than nothing at all, and I understand that Microsoft can't go giving huge discounts to millions of gamers all the time.
What do you guys think about the new program? Is it worth working towards a higher Gamerscore?Should they have offered more tiers of discounts for "Gamerscore whores?"

Interesting way for xbox to get back to the hard core community gamers, the only concern (not really a concern) that came to my mind was the people who have hacked their gamerscore into this rebate. Either way, it's not like they're giving out free games or anything, so it's not a bad thing.

Every person I have known that has modded their GS have always gotten reset. It's not a matter of 'if', it's a matter of 'when'

Very true, and I'd assume that once this went live xbox probably did another sweep to see if the higherscore gamercards were in fact legit.

Cool i guess xD. 2% isn't really too much. And i dunno if you can mod your GS on the newest dashboard.

    I don't think you can.

OP. I take it's good that they have implemented something like, this but like people have pointed out 2% isn't really much, but then again it's better than 0%.

Yes, they will make gamerscore modding much more stricter. Anything that gets in the way of their money, they poo on you.

    1. It's impossible to mod gamerscore.
    2. It would only give you 2% IF it was possible
    3. 3000 - 9000 isnt 1%
    4. 1% is better than nothing.

Now, what was wrong with my post?

Well good thing I have over 25,000 gamerscore.

Here's a quick rundown on the savings you can expect to "reap," if you have over 25,000 gamer score and is looking to purchase some XBL goods.

    1600 MSPs spent = 32 MSP saved.
    or
    Every 20 dollars = 40 cents saved.

You would need to use over 80,000 MSPs, or 1000 dollars, in order to get a 'free' 1600MSPs or 20 dollars in savings.

    Ok
1.I think you need to check again because the last time I checked you could, or did they patched it I rarely be on these games.

2.I wasnt gonna do it lol I wasnt serious dude, do you think I would waste that time to that number.

    3. What!!! 10,000-24,999 is 1% thats wrost

    4. No not on games, if that the case look at gamestop that power up card aint worth nothing.. But ill hate to say it i'll rather do the gamestop card

    5. 2% is nothing, its not even have as much.

You'd think with all the ads on the dashboard and how much everyone pays for gold they could afford to make the discount more significant.
I guess it's better than nothing... but not by much.
