Been spending quite some time on my forums for my Minecraft server just recently took a based plugin and pimped the sh*t out of it! Basically on the Portal/ Forum there are these two side blocks, XP Leaderboard, and Server Status / Online Players!XP Leaderboard looks like this:When the server is online with players:When server is online with no one:And lastly, when the server is offline:So some pretty cool features huh? Well thats not all! On each person profile on the forum they have stats of the server! So what do you guys think? Pretty creative and cool huh?!
Quite nice to the inexperienced "player level" user, but you just have a plugin sending the info to a MySQL database and your forum software reading from said database. This is easily achieved with some forum software, tell me what your forum uses and I might be impressed with your integration.
I'll start by saying I use IPB as my forum software. Now I'll continue by asking who the f*ck you think you are on your high horse? This took me three days, I started off a simple out dated 'forum rank sync' plugin. After updating said plugin I added several features as you can see here. If this is "easily achieved with some forum software" lets see you do it? Alright then.
Ben is right, if you set it up right it should not take that long to make a system to write and read from an mysql server
You obviously have not been in the minecraft section for long. Ben knows more than many people ever will about minecraft and coding for it. His advice is something you should take and run with. Just saying.
Before I try to legitimately discuss this with you I advise you calm down, your raging over this is entirely inappropriate and if it goes further I'll not be continuing this conversation. A few points: There are up to date forum rank syncing plugins that would have made this much easier for you: CommunityBridge There are multiple plugins for sending information to MySQL servers and there are more web related plugins coming out all of the time, it's trendy: MFS, Web Statistician, and the super OG Websend Your method was likely among one of the more difficult, but if you're not an IPB w1z4rd/skilled with PHP I could see how averting most of the work with sending the info to and from IPB would be nice. If you don't think that this is truly "easily achieved with some forum software" then why are the aforementioned utilities existent? People have been doing things like this for a good while and, although it is time consuming, it is not necessarily difficult. Saying that you've used another developer's integration does take away from my appreciation, but your setup of the profile fields is somewhat noteworthy. I also appreciate the server status indicator, but I set up something identical for a friend's stream once so I'm not quite astonished. You wanna hold hands big boy? <3
I'll start by saying calm your tits. He was just asking a question, and out of everyone in the site on this subject he deserves that high horse. Maybe you should stop being so defensive and listen to people once in a while.
Who knows nothing? Nuclear Taco has been here as long as I have running what was one of the biggest servers ever started on this site and Ned entered the staff as Minecraft Diet.
It's obvious you know very little about running a good server. Setup is the easy part, no matter how hard you work. It's the execution of the idea that matters. Do you think that will be useful at all without a large player base? No. I'm not saying "urdoinitwrong" but just think about that (imaginary circumflex accent)
Completely true. I ran several servers at once, one having a similar set up he had, All but one of the servers are still running because the player base was not enough. My setup was perfect, no lag, and staff was great just no players because I didn't execute* right and had an attitude similar to BlahBerrys
