Cool, let's waste hundreds of dollars to remove the button. Totally worth it.

But you do get to be the coolest kid in school with all the latest technology. Stuff like that's important nowadays. Completely accounts for lack of social skills and whatnot.

I will not be purchasing this nor will I purchase any other Apple branded rubbish. You pay for a label and some pointless features. Whoever says iPads are practical needs a kick in the teeth.

It'd be nice if they made it compatible with Flash.

What I would like to see, and it seems they are moving towards it, though not entirely as I would want; is the use of the ipad for universities. For those that are not in majors requiring massive computational power and are just using word processing, spreadsheets, slide shows, ect...
They need to get a massive library going of university textbooks and have students use them instead of spending 4 thousand a year on books. Think I am joking? Head to a major university and you will find out real fast I am not. Imagine have all those huge text books on one device at a masively reduced cost.
It leaves you with a device that is light portable, removes around 60-70lbs from your pack, and allows for simple operations such as provided by the office suite.

I was literally going to say the same comment. This is why I don't buy to many apple products (because of pointless yearly updates).

Why not? We (Well I do) pay thousands to buy some over priced technological equipment with a fruit on it for our family.

Did you not read it? The button-less speculation is from the fact its in landscape... Since this photo suggests it can be used from any side there will not be a true bottom which is where the home button normally is. Therefor suggesting there will be no home button

I think the iPad 3 will have a quad-core A9, doubling up the power of the iPad 2, not to mention the wonderful Retina display and possible 4g LTE connection. It should have 1 gigabyte of RAM up from 512 megabytes

As for the article, there is no dock connector either, so it's definitely not the bottom orientation. The iPad is meant to work in all four orientations so it could just be the "top" if it's in portrait mode.

    From Gizmodo:
"the photo they are showing is on portrait mode. You can't achieve that icon spacing in the landscape mode (which is the only explanation for the lack of home button).

Moreover, the icon falls right onto the same water drop that the current iPad 2 falls while in portrait mode. The same happens with the reflection on the dock. And, on top of that, it's impossible to get the same icon spacing in landscape mode. Clearly, Apple's invitation is showing a photo of the iPad in portrait mode. And there's no button to be seen."

Apple won't ditch a home button, that is one of their key identifiers associated with Apple.

Tim Cook is a great replacement for Steve Jobs, so anyone wanting to say Apple will go down hill is misinformed.

Ohh but didn't you hear? It's faster and has tons of improvements, you just won't notice most of them.
It's going to change everything... again. Didn't you know?

I believe they are practical and should be incorporated into schools.
I'd much rather bring home an iPad then 6+ books everyday.

Can't wait to see what features Apple will add to the iPad! I might buy this version depending on what features they add, the speeds, and how well it actually will work. I guess I have to wait to see some reviews on it. Otherwise, I may go for an android tablet...
Also, on a side note, I really hate the people who jump on the band-wagon of hating on apple...
