All information comes from http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Evolution_of_Combat The formula for determining a player's combat level has been changed to be much simpler: it is X+(Defence level)+2, where X is a player's highest skill level among Attack, Strength, Magic, and Ranged. Consequently, players will start off at combat level 4, and the maximum combat level is 200. Constitution, Prayer, and Summoning levels no longer affect combat levels. The Defence skill has received multiple updates to make it more important in combat. Among these upgrades are a range of Defence-related abilities for players wielding a shield (or the equivalent for rangers and mages) as well as very large lifepoints boosts from armour. As for pures and accounts made for Pking: Will there be new types of pures and what are your thoughts on the pure that will stand out to be most dominant in the wild? Post any builds you can currently think of and list why and etc. Keep in mind! An account with 99 attack, strength, defence, magic and range will be the same level as an account with just one of those skills being 99.
I know this update is to make combat truly balanced, but there is always an OP set up, and with this new system I think turmoil pures will gain a lot of power; Being that prayer level no longer effects them. EDIT: A maxed turmoil pure with 27 defence would be a level 119.
Because the new combat system is like this: (highest level combat stat (magic, range, attack, and strength)) + defense level + 2. So a skiller with 1 in every combat will by default be level 4 now because 1 + 1 + 2 = 4. But i know what your saying. It would be easier for them just to allow from level 1 up. But its too late for that. However, on the bright side of this for skillers, is the fact that we will be able to get 99 prayer, summoning, and constitution without getting any combat levels.
I didn't mean it literally... I meant as in why don't they just revert the combat lvls like in classic.
Because its been in this system for too long. If they wanted to have levels like they did in classic (lowest combat level you could be was 2) then they would have to lower constitution and make it so people could have lower than 10. And the only reason it was like that in Classic was as a punishment. It was the equivalent of a rollback. They caught you botting/cheating and they rolled back all your stats down and sometimes took away hp so you had less than 10. So lower than 3 was never actually intended.
I'm not a fan of the new combat system. I was going to make a summoning tank originally, but I would never be able to compete lol Whatever my defence is, a pure has the same strength and attack. And at max, a pure could have all 99s but defence, while I'm just a 99 defence scrub
I wish they did it like that. It'd be cooler to be a level 1 skiller, level 3 and 4 are just awkward numbers to start a game at imo
I Personally don't like the new combat system I just want it to be regular but dual wielding is awesome!
Lol, have you seen the beta combat yet? It reminds me of the Guild Wars 2 videos. I prefer the old pking style
Well with the new combat system, almost all pures are ruined. Someone with 99 everything but one defence is going to be the same level as a maxed obby mauler for example. Which sucks because i liked making obby maulers/range pures for cheap pking lmao
This is good. Runescape needed a new revolutionary update. This is what it is. It's going to make players play differently and actually take consideration to their stats from weapons/skills/armor.
I don't know how to word it exactly, but have you seen the combat with the addition of the action bar. I didn't mean to say it was similar to GW2, I just meant they're gearing toward that type of combat. Instead of the original normal hit/special hit they have different move types I guess you could call it.
Key binds doesn't simply make it like GW2. A lot of games are like that. Even out of the genre games like starcraft.
Well, in my opinion it reminds me of GW2. May be just because I've seen a lot of videos of it recently idk. My point was it's not Runescape combat like. I liked the switches and etc. Now this kinda messes that up I assume.
Actually, the more videos I watch/ read about the beta, it's reminding me a lot of games such as WoW. Withthe action bar, moves that cause stuns, bleeds, charge and % dmg increase its like having a warrior on WoW. Also they have moves that channel and they're making gear increase life and yeah... I dont like it :/
