need help on choosing a laptop

    i need a laptop for college i don't want a mac and i'm not sure what i should get so any help would be appreciated.
    Using it for media, writing papers, etc. college stuff

    Price range: $1,000 and below
    Requirements:
    Portable,
    Lightweight
    Very good battery life
    15"- 17" inch non glossy screen
    Fully upgrade able
    Hard drive >750 GB
    8Gb RAM or more

    I would recommend an Acer 3830TG-6634, I bought a few months ago and it's pretty good. The specs are:

    i5-2420M @ 2.4GHz (Up to 3.0GHz)
    6GB RAM
    750GB HD
    Nvidia 540m

    It cost me $650, there's obviously better laptops out there. But for the price it was a pretty decent deal.
