Read this before you ask a question asking why you can't open your map in your modding programs: Explanations: Every program related to Halo 2 map modding that is in UMP besides Entity is old. They were created before the Halo modding community figured out how to do proper mods. Proper as in: How Bungie would have made it. As in, you can't tell that we did the mod, because it was done perfectly. Improper would be you could tell that we did it because it was so crudely done. Improper mods really damage the map file, if done to an extent the map won't load or even open in modding programs. Improper mod examples: Dothalo injects bitmaps wrong, it injects it in the wrong partition of the map. The map may load, but you will have serious troubles opening the mod in other programs later on. Insolence transfers tags wrong. It adds the data to the end of the map, like with Dothalo, you may be able to get the mod to load, but you will have serious trouble opening the map in other programs to mod later on. Also, if you transfer a tag your map from a different map with Insolence, then add chunks with any other program besides Entity, you will not be able to add anything else to a map with Insolence, since when you put two different types of improper mods together the hex is shifted all wrong, your map won't even load. Solution The only solution to these improper method problems is to use Entity for the start of your mod, to the end of it. Entity can do every single thing every other modding program can do put together (with maybe the exception of one...). If you use Entity to mod your maps, it will be done proper. Entity is a great program, easy and simple to use, easy to understand, and as able do everything, there is no reason not to use it, when there are reasons to use it.
ummm zone this doesnt really help me with my problem. I did start my mod with entity and it wont open. Check my picture in the entity help thread.
I beg to differ. Entity is probably the number one most confusing program for me. Maybe you should write and tut saying how to use it...
After you guys have learned to program, create halo map modding tools, and understand the halo map structure, you may even attempt to try and prove me wrong. Right now, I'm not even going to take the effort to try and convince you. If you are to lazy to read my detailed posts about why, don't even attempt to argue with me about it.
Proper/Improper Modifications So what you are saying with proper and improper bungie mainly detects improper than proper and can you still mod in matchmaking because my friend GT unavailable tries matchmaking and gets "Start Troubleshooter" but he is also using XSATA does this have anything to do with Proper or Improper or is it just the Banhammer.
That has nothing to do with Halo 2 maps. Maybe next time you will have learned your lesson about modding on live.
lol entity uses too big of words for me. also is there any way u can fix the problems that are already made on the map w/o starting over?
I have a map loading problem. I modded Desolation and I saved changes with Dothalo because thats what I was using and then I closed the map and fixed the encryption with Encryptomatic Signature and resigned with CMR2 and FTPed to my XBOX and I failed to load the map, what did I do wrong?
xxsadisticx... ur screwing up in resigning. thers certain map signatures u have to use try looking here it has the signatures. http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/beginner-tutorials/59690-new-new-map-signatures.html
I hated entity when I first started using it, but i used it as much as possible...Now its pretty much the only program i use, and when i only used dothalo, I would get random freezes on my maps, with entity that has never happened...Also, i love the BSP viewer, entity v1.6 UE ftw! Insolence is the worst program in my opinion.
