No. There was "Human" that you could spawn, which was an agressive default skinned character, including full eyes, unlike "Herobrine". All the jokes about Herobrine being removed are just that. Notch thought it would be amusing.
Herobrine is not in Minecraft, who knows where he is. Send this message to 48493 people or Monday 00:00 a ghost will appear under your bed.
He never existed in the first place. I know it said "Removed Herobrine" in the patch notes, but that was a joke. Herobrine is not and has never been in the game's coding.

There is a bukkit plugin for Herobrine which I use on my server. He is a flaming zombie that catches things around him on fire and will randomly appear and attack you. As far as being official I highly doubt he is.
I once had a fist fight with a wild Herobrine, he pulled my pants down and spanked me with the fish of my father's boat. I cried for two weeks but soon realised that it was all a dream.

OMG OMG OMG IT WORKED!!1!!!11!!!11!!!1 The moment I spawned I could here his groans and I followed the cave just like you said. The only thing you left out is that you have to do this at exactly at 3:33AM and don,t use torches in the cave and you will see him and he just groans and turns around then mincraft crashes and deletes the map!
