Submitted by Victory, edited by OctaVariuM: Apple has officially announced the release of the iPhone 5 in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco. Rumors spread, pictures leaked, but its now official. Lets jump straight to it, what are the differenced from the iPhone 4 or 4s you ask? Firstly, the iPhone will be 20 percent lighter, weighing 112 grams and a whopping 18 percent thinner. Next, the iPhone has been upgraded to a 4-inch 1,136 x 640, allowing for widescreen display. Apps designed for the previous operating system will not be stretched, however they will have black borders. One of the largest and most noticeable updates will be the 8 megapixel camera upgrade, 3,264 x 2,448 pixel resolution with backside illumination and the lens being replaced by sapphire, making the lens thinner, stronger and clearer. This new camera upgrade also allows users to take panoramic photos. In regards to hardware, Apple has upgraded from the previous A5 chip to an A6, claiming that it is “up to 2x faster.” IOS 6 has been introduced with the use of a more advanced “Siri,” allowing users even more commands including the ability to reserve restaurant tables and checking out current sporting scores. Facetime can be used over 3G, with the 720p front-facing camera and backside illuminated sensor. LTE, commonly knows as “4G” has also been introduced, allowing for even faster data roaming. The iPhone 5 will also get a new dock connector named Lightening, which is 80 percent smaller that the connector cable, touting better durability and reversibility, meaning it does not matter which way you plug it in. Apple will also release an adaptor to make the transition from any previous iPhones to your new one (it is supposed to cost around $30). The phone is available in white or black and will sell for $199 for 16GB mode, $299 for 32GB model and $399 for 64GB model. Pre-orders start Sept. 14 and the phone will be in stores on Sept. 21 for many countries. In addition, even more countries will see the iPhone 5 on Sept. 28. Like what you see? Any chance of you be purchasing the iPhone 5? View the Post on the Blog
I don't use iphones, but I can't wait for the release. Hopefully making iPod 4G's a lot cheaper. Or I may even just get a iPod 5G
Well, I love the Apple product's I can not wait honestly. I recently found out that Siri could not swim, as for I am a life guard and I forgot I had that dumb b**** in my pocket, and a kid decided that they would start to drown and make me save him. Stupid Kid.
The 4S does a lot of these so-called additions to the iPhone 5. I'm sticking to the 4S until I can get an iPhone 5 from the "back of the truck". Even then, I will end up swapping the 4S and not paying a cent more. Now had they given more options for colours, like they did with the new Nano or Touch, then game on! I can deal with that.
I honestly think the only reason I got the iPhone 4S is because it came in white. Little did I know the 3GS has a white one out? I didn't know that. But I totally agree! More colours and I would love to get another one just for the sake of having the most amazing pretty phone.
I've recently seen this on the news!(Like just now) Horribly I hear the price is around 250$, little much of price I believe.4 inch screen though this time, 3d google maps, etc! looking forward to getting one maybe,
Apple has the mobile market on lock-down. Lesser companies such as Samsung, HTC, etc, cannot compete with Apple's technology. Apple's iPhone is the pinnacle of smartphone evolution, and Apple still finds ways to improve upon it.
Sarcasm is so very hard to detect on the internet. So I'm just going to assume you are not mentally retarded and were jesting.
Its not google maps because apple is to cool to support google products. Its apple maps now. I switched to android last year best move I ever made.
It's obviously not the best but it has some what revolutionized the industry and is currently leading.
I was not aware that revolutionized meant doing the same thing every year. However that being said, if it's truly only $200, I'd be tempted to say the least.
Honestly, I will probably be getting this phone. Unfortunately, my android phone has not been treating me the way I would have wanted it to.(Hardware wise) Damn, now this completely contradicts my username.
I can't say tablets yet because of nexus 7 but smart phone for sure. Though, it may not be the best it is definitely the most popular and enjoyable experience.
I have the Gz One Commando now, an andriod phone. Never really agreed with apple products, couple products I felt were a success such as the iTouch and iPhone only.
