So for something to do today i picked up this old iPhone 3G to fiddle with for $10 bucks. I got home and dug out a 30 pin i had laying in my drawer. I plugged it into my MacBook and it charged up than finally booted to iPhone is disabled, please connect to iTunes. I turned to my MacBook and got the error saying that iTunes does not have access to the iPhone because the of a passcode. Well i read up on apple and the fix was to put it in recovery mode. Well, my lock button doesn't work so i have tried Redsn0w for DFU, but it won't actually put it in that mode. Any ideas?

Turn the iphone off then hold down the home button and then plug in the cable. keep holding home button till the itunes logo appears on phone, restore and it will wipe the passcode

EDIT: ah just noticed you said the lock button isnt working. in that case just let the battery run itself down till it turns off then do the above.
