That's the catch, they don't. They said they would take down Facebook on November 5th 2011, but they didn't, so I kinda start to doubt that this is going to happen.
it wont happen all these hackers are like little kids they need to shout and scream to get some attention and make empty threats to look cool but really hacking and bringing down servers/websites is just totally gay
I agree with the part that hacking and bringing down servers (and therefor websites) isn't really needed and frankly, it has no purpose so why do it? But thanks to the reports on the news in my country, I know that those people doing it are not "little kids", they're mostly teenagers from around 18 - 24 years old, and even some adults from around 34 - 39 years old (at least, the gang arrested in my country for DDoS-ing a major bank website were).
This is funny if you have there virus you aren't browsing the Internet anyway haha as its just popping up ads!
I don't understand how temporarily pulling the plug on everyone is going to stop the virus, all that has to happen is you have to re-connect to the internet, and this supposed "virus" can continue it's work. Even though I my self do not have the skills to professionally write a paper or story, this story seems very unprofessional unlike many of the other se7ensins stories. Like one above noted, the internet will not be shut down, only the people who were infected by this virus will be unable to use their internet until they clean their computer and change their DNS server. There really is no need to re-install the OS or anything like that, and people need to be safer!
Oh yeah! And I'm safe! I disabled the DNS server on all my computers, they all use the DNS server that is on my router! I run DD-WRT and all my DNS work is done on there!
It physically cannot. People don't all use the same DNS servers, so this is literally impossible. I use Google's DNS servers, so it would be an extreme violation of privacy for any government to shut down their DNS servers. They can't physically do this, no one will notice if any DNS servers get shut down. I don't know how people can be convinced that this is true. It takes very little knowledge of the architecture of the Internet, and DNS to realize this is some scheme.
