No you don't need to open your dsi.

No, you won't even need to update the R4 revolution.

I really like my R4 Revolution, it meets all my wants. I heard the Acekard is decent, but R4 is perfectlly fine in my opinion.

R4's are defiantly the best cards to buy in my opinion. Updates can be a day or so later than others, but they're the most reliable. Make sure to buy from a trusted reseller, there's a lot of fake r4 cards floating around the net.

No, the chances are ridiculously slim. For the 3DS however, online capability bans are possible if caught.

Can 3DS games be booted off of an R4 chip? I don't own a 3DS so I'm pretty novice in the ways of Nintendo's latest gear :p

    Yes , buy you need an R4 3DS, a regular R4 won't work.

All roms (.NDS) are a minimum of 8,192 KB and double from there on out. Possibilities - 8,192 KB, 16,384 KB, 32,768 KB, 65,536 KB and 131,072 KB (it might be larger, but that's the largest game I have on my R4).

The game save (.SAV) will always be 512 KB.
