This topic includes ways on how to obtain an open NAT type & connect to Xbox Live in a simple way. A strict NAT type often deteriates your ability for online multiplayer, causing you to lag.

I am aware that there are other topics regarding this same issue, but those topics, with full respect, are too narrow in information.

Moving onwards, the main way to properly fix an Xbox Live problem, is to trouble shoot, so let's do that.

First method: In order to successfully connect to Xbox Live wirelessly, let's make sure you have all the necessary equipment. Here's the list of equipment you will need:
If you have all the neccessary equipment, you may move on. Make sure the Modem is connected to your ISP.

How to Set-Up Your Router: Some people may get confused by this step, but it is alright, I will try to break it down as best as I can.
[1] In your search bar, either type in "http://192.681.1.1" or "http://192.168.0.1". If none of those work, please use google.
List of router IP's by Phantom:
    192.168.0.1
    192.168.1.1
    192.168.1.254
    10.0.1.1
    192.168.1.1
    192.168.11.1
    192.168.2.1
[2] When it asks you to log in, put for the username: admin and the password: admin.

[3] Go over to the wireless tab and make the configuration look like this except for the SSID Name & password.

Now that we have that in order, we can move on to the Second Method -- -- --

Second Method: If you are lagging in game and says you have a Strict NAT type, you will probably need to open ports, you can learn about opening ports below or you can click here:

[1] Log into your router like shown above.
[2] Go into the "Application & Gaming" tab.
[3] Go over to "Port Range Forwarding"
[4] Enter everything as shown below:

**Replace the 0 with the last 3 digits in your Xbox Live IP**

Third Method: The third and final method to obtain an open NAT type is to enable your UnPnP or Universal Plug and Play
    • You can find out about opening it here
Summing up, there is a great video you can watch. It shows you everything that I showed you here. You can watch the video here.

Q: My NAT type is still Strict.
A: Call Xbox Support or unplug your router.

Q:How long will my NAT type be open for?
A: As long as you have your wireless router on, forever.

A strict NAT doesn't effect lag.

Quite frequently, players that suffer lag and are unable to connect to games do suffer from the strict NAT type.

Your NAT doesn't effect your connection. It only effects your ability to connect to other players.

But regardless, in the tutorial I teach people how to get rid of it. Thank you for the correction.

I know, I attempted to suggest that you put 192.168.1.254 on the list of IPs to try.
