~How to Create and Apply SPPF Patches~ Items Needed: Super PPF Back-Up NON-MODDED Map of the map you're modding Modded Map An SPPF patch is a patch used for Halo 2 modified maps. You can use these patches to easily apply changes to a map or to create a patch to easily share you're modified map with others. This tutorial is aimed at absolute beginners and will teach you how to create and apply these patches. I apologize for the length. I tried to make the tutorial as long and detailed as possible so that even complete noobs won't have trouble following it. Don't let the length turn you off to using it however, because using this program to make OR apply an SPPF patch will take less then a minute. You can download Super PPF here: Download: Code: RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting Mirror: Code: superppf.rar - FileFront.com 1.) Download Supper PPF using one of the two above links, and extract it using WinRar, which can be found using Google. If you cannot use Google, please learn how to do so before reading this tutorial. 2.) Now, once you have Super PPF extracted, just double click on it to launch it. See? Easy! 3.) Once you have it open, it should look like this: 4.) You should notice that there are two parts to it. At the top it's labeled "Super PPF Creation". At the bottom, it's labeled "Super - PPF- O - Matic". The top is for creating SPPF patches from your existing mods, and the bottom is for applying SPPF patches that you've acquired to clean maps. 5.) Now it's time to decide which one you want to do. If you want to make a SPPF patch, then keep reading. If you want to apply a SPPF patch skip to step 14. 6.) Okay! So you want to make a SPPF patch! Man that would be a great title for an inspirational book wouldn't it? Well make sure that you have a clean map and you're modded map that you either made or "borrowed". 7.) Now you should have figured out that you'll be working at the TOP of the application. You have three boxes to fill out. Let's start with the first. 8.) Click the little floppy disc to the right of the blank. A save box will come up. Now, pick somewhere to save you newly created patch and give it a name. If you have a name for your mod, you might name the patch that. Otherwise I prefer to name it as the name of the map that you're making the mod for. In this case i'm making this mod for Lockout, so i'll name it "Lockout". No brainer huh? Once you've got it named as you want, press "Save". 9.) Phew! Easy eh? Now you're done with part one. Now, click the icon that looks like a floppy disc next to number two (the box that says "Original File"). Surprise! Another drive box. This time, locate your backed up map of the file that you modded. In this case I modded Lockout, so i have to locate my unmodded Lockout map. Once you've located and selected the unmodded map, press "Open". 10.) Half way done, isn't this easy? Now, 2/3 of those boxes are filled. Time for the third! C'mon now, you know the procedure! To the right of the third box (which reads "Patched File") there is a button that looks like a floppy disc. And, like always, it will open a drive box. Now, you have to go find the modded map that you made/"borrowed". In this case i'm using a lockout mod i made way back when. Once you have it highlighted in the drive box, press "Open". 11.) Well, now you're done with picking out your files. You should have something that looks kinda like this: 12.) Now, see the "Create Super PPF Patch" button that's circled in red up above? Press it and all of your dreams will come true! Well, not really. You'll see the status bar (yay white arrows!) complete, and then a little box will come up. 13.) That little box means exactly what you think it means, DONE! . So now wherever you told it to save that SPPF file, now there's the complete SPPF patch file from your modded map! 14.) If you're reading this, it means that you skipped here from step 5. If you just finished 13, you're done. Chill. Relax. If not, then sooo...you want to apply an SPPF patch to a map? Well, make sure that you have your SPPF patch and a clean map. You have only two boxes to fill up with the corresponding information, it won't take long. 16.) Now time to fill in the first box. To the left of the blank it says "Map File". To the right of the blank there's an icon on a button that looks like a floppy disc. Click on it! A drive box will come up. Now in this drive box, select the clean map that corresponds to the SPPF that you downloaded. AKA if you downloaded a mod for Gemini, pick out a clean map from Gemini. Clean if you didn't know, means unmodded. Make sure that you do NOT select one of your backed up maps without copying it, because this WILL modify the map. Once you have it selected, press "Open". 17.) Half way done! Now, same procedure, click on the button that looks like a floppy disc next to the blank box that has the label "Patch file". Once again, a drive box will come up. From there, find your SPPF patch that you downloaded for the map that you selected in the last step. Once you have it selected, press "Open" 18.) Almost done! Now, below those you'll notice a big, wish-it-were-shiny button that says "Apply Super PPF Path". Well, buttons are for clicking! Click away!!! 19.) You should see the progress bar go up, and when it's complete a little box will pop up that says "done" 20.) That box means exactly what you think it means. You're done! Fin! Now just resign the map and FTP it! PLEASE LEAVE THANKS!
