I recently tried to fix my BenQ drive of the open tray problem but when I powered my xbox on, the drive wouldn't eject and the middle green light kept flashing. I checked the cables they were all plugged into the drive correctly. I also did the 12v fan mod a while back and I used power from the drive. I was wondering if the mod killed my drive. Would replacing the drive fix the problem along with a new dvd drive cable?

You probably need to realign the tray. Post a picture of the inside of the drive if you want, or give that a shot and let us know.

My drive doesn't make a sound when I try to eject it. It does load the dashboard. Btw, I did not flash this drive. I think its just fried. Anyone had this happen before and fixed it?

This can happen when you flash 800 FW, do not flash any FW, or the drive is dead.

If you have the ability to flash it, try and hook it up to your PC and see if JungleFlasher can detect the drive.

I guess it couldnt hurt to try and switch out the internal cables if you have extra.

Could also be that you accidentally plugged the dvd power cable in upside down. This happens to many and the result is almost always a completely fried drive. The power button blinking indicates one of two things to the Xbox: The Xbox believes the disc tray is open OR the Xbox does not detect a DVD drive at all. Make sure you didn't damage any ribbon cables inside there too. They are delicate. Make sure they are all securely plugged in and clamped.

I have no idea about the flashing lights but I do know about the disc tray not ejecting due to I have to do it. Turn your Xbox on it's side and hit the top with not too much and not too less and it will come out. I have to do this with my Xbox but no idea what's causing it. It's not a permanent solution but it's temporary..

I think I may have inserted the dvd power cable wrong. Thanks Canyonne I didn't think of that. And everyone else thanks for the replies.
