Yes -- they're at it again. Please for the love of all that is sacred, let somebody buy something... quick. From the horse's mouth;

"In light of developments since the withdrawal of the Microsoft proposal to acquire Yahoo! Inc., Microsoft announced that it is continuing to explore and pursue its alternatives to improve and expand its online services and advertising business. Microsoft is considering and has raised with Yahoo! an alternative that would involve a transaction with Yahoo! but not an acquisition of all of Yahoo!"

Microsoft can take Yahoo's stake in the search industry market. Both have a common enemy in Google. Yahoo isn't doing so hot because they aren't a large company like Microsoft who has Windows, MS Office, Xbox, Zune, and other products in other markets.

well yeah but still the only reason they would want 2 buy them is 2 knock them out of the competition for marketing. thats every business goal. besides Google is pathetic. wow u have a search bar and ur name on the page. yahoo actually tells u stuff and gives a crap load of options. i love it and use it all the time, especially 4 e-mails.

Microsoft can do whatever they want. My prediction is that Yahoo will just keep holding out for more and once microsoft offers an amount they're looking for, thats when they'll sell.

I know very few people who use yahoo frequently. In the past year I think I've used Yahoo maybe once, twice at the most.

Yahoo came crying back to Microsoft when Microsoft stopped them, because they realized that they weren't going to get than Microsoft was asking for.

that will be the day. besides i really don't think that Microsoft would ever do that. they probably wouldn't even think about it. if they did it would just 2 buy them 2 knock them out so Microsoft is #1 in command. besides most schools say they can only use Google 4 there search engine so its highly unlikely 4 that 2 happen.
