Xbox 360's successor not to arrive in '09

For Microsoft, the rumor extinguishers are always on standby, ready to put out the latest Blu-Ray - 360 marriages, but today they're being put to another use. Earlier, sources said that the unnamed successor to the Xbox 360 would be hitting store shelves quite soon, sometime in 2009. A Microsoft represenative told the technology blog Engadget "While we don't normally comment on rumors like this, we can tell you that we have no plans to release a new console in 2009". Microsoft was quick and straightforward on this rumor, so people who are saying "But I just spent $400 for my Xbox 360!" can breathe a sigh of relief, your console won't be an obsolete paperweight - at least for another one and a half years.

Doesn't pertain to me either, I'd still buy it. But I would rather wait another year or two because newer technologies can come out that Microsoft could stick in it, and the 360 is still a great console with great games.
