| Overclockers push Quad-Core Skulltrail QX9775 to 6GHz without damage ![]() Overclockers push Quad-Core Skulltrail QX9775 to 6GHz without damage Core 2 "Extreme" lives up to it's name When OC Team Italy took a Pentium 4 to 8GHz without a meltdown, many were suprised that the Pentium 4, at the time being dominated by AMD's Athlon processors, was able to hit the 8GHz mark. Now it's the other way around. Intel has it's foot cemented in the performance CPU market with it's "Core" series, and "K|ngp|n" has pushed Intel's performance to the max, overclocking Intel's Quad-Core Skulltrail QX9775 to a whopping 6GHz. Not only did he push the clock speed to the limit, but he also overclocked the Front Side Bus to 1,716MHz, another feat. Though the CPU would not be able to hold this clock speed for this long, it goes to show that Intel is serious with their Performance CPUs now. This feat doesn't come free though, consuming a power level of 1.953-volts.
