Blockbuster seeking to buy Circuit City

US's largest movie rental company looking to acquire 2nd largest electronics retailer

In an effort to keep the struggling video rental company alive in a world of digital downloads and "On Demand" services from cable providers, Blockbuster announced that they are seeking to acquire Circuit City for the price of $1.3 billion, a 52% to 101% premium over Circuit City's trading prices last week. If the deal goes through, the company would become a $18 billion dollar company "uniquely positioned to capitalize on the growing convergence of media content and electronic devices."
