Rumor: Gates to reveal HD DVD Xbox 360 at CES

Xbox 360 with internal HD DVD to be unveiled at CES 2008

This Sunday Bill Gates will walk across the CES 2008 stage one last time for his final keynote speech. And just like years before, Mr. Gates will be touching on hot technology topics, Windows news, Zune facts and possibly some Xbox 360 HD DVD details as well. Or so thinks the Seattle Times. They're speculating that Billy will go out with a bang at this year's CES revealing a partnership with Toshiba to release an "Ultimate" Xbox 360 that packs HD DVD and DVR functionality. Not only that, but they also think Microsoft will announce other 360 partnerships as well.

A new HD DVD enabled Xbox 360 would be pretty cool and would help defend against the Blu-ray takeover while at the same time proving that Micheal Bay was correct all along. But our other half says we already have enough variety when it comes to Xbox 360 models and an Ultimate version would be kind of overkill. No matter what Billy talks about during the keynote all we really want is any Xbox 360 news that is more exciting than last year's IPTV functionality (of which hasn't come to fruition anyway). Can we at least get that much?

ANd it wouldnt be no ****ing 499, ROFL. That's what, 20 bucks more than the elite. No it would be in the 5's easy.

Depends. The Elite's price point includes the 120GB drive, fancy black paint, and HDMI cables.

If it was just a regular 20GB version...... $349 + $179 = $528
MS isn't going to sell it for the exact price it would cost to buy a 360 and then a HD DVD drive.

So $499 is a possibility.

And if you were dishing out the money for a higher end model 360.. than the elite. WOuldn't the average not technology smart buyer get annoyed that a 120 isnt there?

YOu cant just look from our point of views cause we'd be fine without a 120. The average person would throw a ***** fit.

and you never answered if he's retiring, cause these past few threads you made sounds like he is.

1080p can also be output over Component (if your TV supports 1080p over Component) and over VGA.
But now all 3 360 models have HDMI out.

And yes, he's retiring from head of day-to-day operations. He announced that a while ago.

why not just add blueray? i think that would drive pppl to buy the 360 more cause it has a blue ray and its a good gaming system.

And The Government of China announced that democratic elections will be held tomorrow.

That is probably one of the stupidest things I've heard.

Microsoft one of the big backers of HD DVD. Why in the ****ing world would they put a BD drive in?
