vegas PEC wigged out...

my friend was playing on my account tonight and we encountered a really crappy deal... he was waiting for a map to load while playin terrorist hunt and his controller died. instead of putting new batteries in the same controller he spaced it and tried using a different one instead. this made the game freeze and when i tried to log back in it brought me to the very first PEC screen where u choose the face of ur character. it dropped our rank and we lost half our stuff....

any ideas to fix this or at least an f.y.i. on what happened?
