![]() | A small tutorial on How to Hack the PSP Hacking the PSP A Tutorial by MattManiaMaxX First we start with a fresh PSP, nice and new out of the box with its cute little firmware. Now let’s rip it out of the box, and **** up that firmware! Mwahaha! First we’ll need to tell if you have the TA-082 version PSP. To figure this out, open you UMD disk tray and look for the number IC1003 inside Reduced: 85% of original size [ 597 x 433 ] - Click to view full image![]() If you do have this number please DO NOT USE ANY TUTORIAL THAT ARENT NOT FOR TA-082!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Step 1. DOWNGRADING Figuring out which Firmware you have a. Boot up your PSP b. Scroll to Settings c. Under Settings find System Settings d. The go to System Information e. The Firmware you have will be under System Software. If you do NOT have firmware 1.50 then you will need to downgrade!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you have Firmware 2.71 and below use the ULTIMATE PSP DOWNGRADING GUIDE which can be found here: DOWNLOAD FROM MEGAUPLOAD DOWNLOAD FROM RAPIDSHARE (NO TA-082 tutorials are in the Ultimate PSP Downgrading Guide, please read on!!!) The guides for 2.80 without the TA-082 motherboard and 2.71 with the TA-082 motherboard will be posted here. If you have a PSP with a TA-082 motherboard and a 2.80 firmware, then there’s nothing you can do right know, you’ll have to wait for a downgrader to be released. Also if you’re thinking, “I have a TA-082, but I have an older firmware than the one in the tutorial! Darn guess I can’t downgrade it now!” Well you’re wrong, and also a n00b. You can update your firmware to 2.71 by downloading the update HERE. Also just to make it that much easier, for your n00b pleasures, Playstation has a nifty little tutorial of how to install and run your update find it HERE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.80 Downgrading Tutorial Using Easy Downgrader (Not For TA-082): Requirements: •A PSP with Firmware 2.80 installed. •2.80 Easy Downgrader: download HERE PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PSP CHARGER IN AT ALL TIMES 1. Reformat your memory stick before you start this. 2. Download and run the easy downgrader. 3. Create a USB connection between your PSP and computer 4. Browse the computer for your PSPs root and select it. My PSPs root is “H” This is what it should look like after being selected: Reduced: 97% of original size [ 527 x 395 ] - Click to view full image![]() 5. Now click the install button, this is what the installer should now do: Reduced: 97% of original size [ 527 x 396 ] - Click to view full image![]() 6. Once the files have been copied to the PSP, exit USB mode and restart your PSP. 7. Make sure you have your PSP charger in and have at least 75% battery! 8. Now head over to the game section on your PSP, under memory stick. Click on the eboot. 9. The downgrade should begin. Wait for it to finish and when it says it has finished, hard reboot the PSP. ( Hold down the PSP Power Button until it shuts off completely ) 10. When turning on the PSP, a BSOD should show up. Just hit O and the PSP should restart. This is what the BSOD looks like: ![]() 11. When the PSP restarts, hopefully it should ask you what settings you want for the PSP. 12. Either skip the PSP settings or set them and go to SETTINGS> SYSTEM INFORMATION, if the PSP says you have firmware 1.5, you have successfully downgraded! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.71 Downgrading Tutorial ( For TA-082 ) Requirements: •A TA-082 PSP with firmware 2.71 installed. To find out if you have a TA-082 PSP look at this: Reduced: 85% of original size [ 597 x 433 ] - Click to view full image![]() •WinRar. Download it from HERE •Download these: Easy TA-082 2.71 Downgrader TA-082 Downgrader 1.50 EBOOT Update 2.71 HEN-D (Homebrew Enabler Rev. D) PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PSP CHARGER IN AT ALL TIMES 1. Before you start, reformat your memory stick and reset your default settings. 2.Create a USB connection between your PSP and computer. 3. Copy the UPDATE and idstoragechange folders into /PSP/GAME/ 4. Get the official Sony 1.50 eboot and put it in the /PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder with the name of UPDATE.PBP 5. Run HEN-D if you are not already running it. 6. Execute the idstoragechange on the PSP. It needs 75% battery. It will change some keys of your idstorage needed to downgrade the TA-082 PSP. 7. The program will exit to the XMB. Now run the generic downgrade, which will show in the XMB as “Update X.YX” on the PSP. 8. The generic downgrader will also need 75% battery. IT will downgrade your PSP to 1.50. 9. At the end, it will ask you to press X to restart the PSP. Do it. 10. If all went fine, you’ll receive a blue screen telling you to press O. Do it, and re-enter your settings. Welcome to 1.50. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok so by now you should have your PSP to firmware 1.50 and you’re ready to continue! Step 2. Installing Custom Firmware! Now you might be asking yourself wtf custom firmware is, if this is so you might also be a n00b, but just to please you I’m going to give you a short explanation. Custom Firmware: This will allow you to play UMDs that require an up to date firmware, but will also let you play your own backed up games, emulators, and homebrew. Installing Firmware for NON-TA-082: If you don’t have TA-082, then you are very lucky. You get to use an absolutely AWESOME firmware! How to install: Requirements: - 1.5 PSP (battery fully charged) - 302_BASIC_Installer_150.exe from http://www.psp-haxors.com/wp-content/up … er_150.exe Steps: 1. Connect your psp to your computer, and back up any photos, etc. you want to keep. 2. Exit USB mode on you PSP, and go to Settings->System Settings->Format Memory Stick 3. Go back to usb mode, and run the installer (mentioned in the requirements) on your computer. 4. Just keep pressing next, making sure to select your PSP drive when prompted. (Some people complain about the installer stopping on 37%, just wait, it definitely will finish, maybe your computer just sucks!) 5. Exit USB mode again, and go to Game->Memory Stick->3.02 Installer 6. On running this, your PSP will reboot and a message will come up, prompting you to press 'x' to continue. Press X For more information visit PSP-HACKS 8. Congrats! You are now running 3.02 OE-A 9. You can easily upgrade to 3.02 OE-B by downloading it from PSP Downloads | 3.02 OE-B and just following the readme.txt. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have a TA-082 then you can run homebrew, I’m not sure if the 3.02 OE A is compatible with the TA-802 motherboard…and I’m too tired to look it up…but that’s why they invented google…for the nubs. I am positive though that THIS will work for the TA-082. Although I cannot write a tutorial on this because of that fact that I do not own a TA-082 and cannot install it. 7. Once all is done, you will be prompted to reboot your PSP manually. Hold the power switch up for a few seconds to make sure it is fully off, then turn it back on. | PSP v3.93 I'm new to this whole PSP thing and I have pretty much absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I got a PSP slim and I got the latest update. v3.93. Is there anything I can do as far as mods or emulators or homebrew at all? If not, can I do anything else? I'm a total noob to this PSP stuff. Help?
