Unanswered: A little homework on the PSP

Okay guys, so I'm going to be getting a PSP within a week or so, and I'm just trying to find out what I really need.

I know I need a downgrader to roll the firmware back.

I also know that I'm going to want to install a custom firmware after I downgrade it.

So first question...what custom firmware should I use? I know there's a lot of versions out there, and Ideally, I'd like the most features possible. The one thing that I insist on being able to run is IRshell so I can control my 360/tv/stereo.

Other than that, what other software out there is really cool? I read something about a charger mod?

And hardware...about how big are the games? I've currently got ONE 1gb Memory Stick Pro Duo and a Memory Stick Duo adapter. I'm not sure what the PSP has for internal storage, so what should I really have for running custom apps and games on it?

Also...is it possible to access media from a network using the Wi-Fi on it? I'm pretty sure the answer's "yes", but I've never played with one.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can access media from a network using your psp. If you find a way, i wanna know lol.

It should be here on Friday. I'll letcha know what I discover.

Edit...was checking out the irShell's WIKI, and I've gotta say...that program kicks as$.

With irShell running, your psp automatically has the ability to control just about any IR-enabled device that exists. TV, stereo, Xbox, Xbox360...you can control them all with the PSP.

If that's not cool enough...

irShell supports a little feature called "nethost". Basically, you set up a folder on your PC, and point the program Nethostsfs.exe at it. This communicates with irShell over wi-fi, which then tells the PSP that the network share is actually the memory stick.

So, basically, your computer is the memory card. This allows for streaming of mp3's, videos, dvd's, homebrew apps, and full ISO's of any game for the PSP or PS1.

And I haven't even finished reading the whole user's manual yet...

Nope, checked it out, and PSP is running 3.71FW. Ordered TOOL battery from Datel, and also contacted a hacker from WI who supposedly has a battery he lets ppl use. I've also got the TOTALNOOBIESEASYINSTALLER for the memory stick and the 1.5FW. Found a copy of the 380M33 Custom firmware Rev. 5 by DarkAlex, which is the latest ver supported by IRShell. So, I think I've got a pretty good idea of what I need to do in order to downgrade and flash the firmware.

One question...if I have the pandora's battery and magicstick, do I need to downgrade to 1.5 and THEN upgrade to the custom, or can I just make it flash w/e firmware I want from the getgo?

ok
well i use to be in to PSP modding so i know a little bit but its probly not the most up to date info

downgraders:
PSP-Hacks.com / Downgrade Every PSP Firmware 3.03 & Below
pick the one according to your frimware

If your frimware is not listed you need a pandoras battery
(i made a tut here somewhere)

Irshell
i run it on 3.52MM3 (that was the best at the time of when i modded)

um games depend on their complexity
any where from 200MB to 1gig

with IRShell however you could plug your psp into a computer
and load the game strait off your computer

And thats about all i remember hope it helped
