installed cfw, none of the buttons work!

ok, here is the deal. my brother bought a psp 2001 with the 85 motherboard. when he got it home he noticed that when you press the home button, the screen goes blank and wont reboot unless you take out the battery and put it back in. he brought it to me so that i can install cfw on it. i used my pandora and mms to install the cfw. it worked but when i rebooted none of the bottons worked. i can get into the recovery menu by pressing r trigger. the buttons worked in that menu, but when i get into the xmb none of the bottons work again. (pressing home still blanks out the screen) i reinstalled ofw and its back to normal with working buttons. strange but true.
