This is going to be a simple picture and text tutorial. You don't need AE experience to follow this, just follow everything step by step and you'll be fine.

1. Click file > import > file and select your sniper footage from your PC.

2. Drag your clip from the Project window down to the timeline area.

(1) Drag your clip from the project window to the timeline area (2)
(3) Your video will appear in the composition window
(4) As you can see a composition has been added to your project window. Anything you create or add to the project such as extra videos or photos will be added here.

3. Make a copy of your video in the timeline area by clicking on it, pressing CTRL+C then clicking on the timeline area and pasting it by pressing CTRL + V. A copy of the video should appear on top of the one currently in the timeline.

4.After you do this, right click the top clip you just pasted and scroll down to the rename button and rename the layer to shockwave.

5. Click on the layer you just named "Shockwave"
Go to the effects tab on the top, scroll down to distortion, then click on the "CC Lens" effect.

6. As you can see. Your top clip will become distorted and the controls for the effect will open up in the effect controls tab. Now we're going to learn how to keyframe and set the shockwave to sync with the sniper shot.

7. Make sure the slider on the timeline (the blue arrow attached to the red line) is at the beginning of the clip.
Click on all three clock icons. We'll only be keyframing the middle one for this tutorial though.
Click on the "Size" control and either click and drag your mouse to the left to reduce the size of the distortion or drag it to the right to increase the size. You're going to drag it all the way to the left until the number reaches zero. This will make it disappear completely as shown in the photos below.

8. Now you're going to drag your timeline slider to the point of the clip where the sniper shot is made.

9. Use the preview controls to go 1 FRAME before the shot is made. We're going to set a keyframe here for the size effect control. The keyframe we are going to set here is still going to be valued at zero.
Because if we have the first keyframe set to zero then increase the size to let's say 50 at the sniper shot, the distortion effect would slowly grow from the beginning of the video and will stop until it's size is 50 which is at the point of the sniper shot.

Basically we are delaying the effect until we want it to start. To do this simply have two keyframes with the same value at the start and at the end of your desired delay timespace. I know this might sound a bit confusing now, but you'll understand it once you see it.

Click the previous frame button to move to the frame just before the sniper is shot.

To add a keyframe for a control, right click on "size" then add keyframe.

10. Go down to the timeline slider again and slide it to the end of the sniper shot.

11. Once you're at the end of the sniper shot, right click on the size control effect and double click on the value and you'll be able to freely edit the number (this is faster than sliding to the right to increase it.) Edit the value to 500.

12. Play the clip using the play button in the preview window to see the shockwave effect take place. Now you might notice that the shockwave might be a bit too fast or a bit too slow. You're going to want to edit the end keyframe to re adjust the speed of the effect. This is very easy to do.

oNkr9kQ.png

(1) Click on the drop down arrow on the left side of the clip
(2) You should now see an "effects" drop down arrow, click that too
(3) Now you should see all of the effects you have applied to the clip, CC Lens should be the only one. Click the drop down arrow next to it.
(4) Here are all of the keyframes you have set for certain effect controls. You can freely slide each keyframe to edit when certain effects happen.
(5) But all we're doing today is editing the "size" keyframe. It should be the 3rd and last on on the row in the timeline. If its too slow slide it a little be closer towards the 2nd keyframe to the left. If it's too fast then slide it to the right and play it to see if it's at your desired speed.

If everything is just right then move on to the next step.

13. Now we are going to render and export our clip. Don't forget to save a project file first though! If you ever want to come back and freely edit the work you've done on a video you're going to need it.
To save a project file click file > save as > save as > then save your project file anywhere on your pc.

14. Now for the render and exporting part. Click on file > export > add to render queue
hhv28VQ.png

The render queue should open up. Your video will automatically save in the highest quality possible. Click the name next to "output to:" to set a location to save the video and then click the render button. Once it's done you can go to the file location and enjoy your clip!

Like dis if you came from Wavy 's profile.

OT: You'd probably want to post a video of this process or maybe a gif. I didn't even bother reading to the 2nd step
