question about gun Manufacturers in borderlands

ok so i have been in love with willowtree ever since it came out, and i have some pretty amazing guns that i am really happy with

now i have a few questions really, does the Manufacturer of the gun make it better?

because i have this combat rifle which i love and modded up like mad, but its made by dahl, would changing the Manufacturer to atlas make it a better gun? stat wise?

also if i change gd_manufacturers.Manufacturers.Dahl into gd_manufacturers.Manufacturers.Atlas do i also change gd_weap_shared_materialparts.ManufacturerMaterials .Material_Dahl_3 with something from atlas?

does the gd_weap_shared_materialparts.ManufacturerMaterials .Material_Dahl_3 string actually do anything to the weapons other than make it a certain color? because i like hyperions red guns over atlas' white guns

so would changing the dahl to atlas names and materials make a gun better??
and how would i go about chaning the name of the guns? can i name them anything i want? or do i have to splice things together?

As far as I can tell, it's the material that gives the stat alteration, not the actual manufacturer name. So you can have it showing as being made by Dahl, but if you've got a Jakobs skin on it you'll get the Jakobs damage bonus, for example.

ah ok...well do you have or happen to know any of the atlas strings? i dont have any atlas combat rifles...and thanks for the info

???? that was my string for my dahl gun but i changed the name to atlas and added the numbers at the end, used to be 3

lol i just looked through a couple of my guns to try and find an atlas for you and came up with this one.
gd_weap_shared_materialparts.ManufacturerMaterials .Material_Atlas_1
i would assume that you can change the 1 to 2,3 or 4.

material levels only go up to 3 from what ive seen

ok test number 1 - i changed the dahl_3 into atlas_3 and it droped the 325 damage of my guns to 25 that was a bummer

on a side note i made my fire rate jump from 15 to 37 O_o must figure out way to make them keep the power and the fire rate

moar results the name of the gun changes its rarity AND its damage output

gd_weap_combat_rifle.Title.Title_Damage2_Stomper the bold actully mods the gun thats the end to my good guns, i gave up on the materials changing, so i was just renaming them to my liking, and i liked the bastard guns names so i made a glorious bastard outta my best gun, made it worse
