silently screams

You can do it straight from your computer to your xbox. You Need to buy a crossover cable. Then you need to set your xbox's IP address to be in the same range as your PC.

Allrighty then. A crossover cable is just a network cable that has a few wires different, so that it allows for transmission from device to device, as opposed to device to hub to device. You can get them at Best Buy, CompUSA, hell target Might even have them. OR, you can look up the schemantics on google if you wanted to make one out of a regular network cable.

Same range means that the IP addresses are set to be on the same network. Generally, an IP address on a LAN is something like 192.168.1.105, or 192.168.10.5, etc. To put two machines in the same range would mean that you tell the first one to use IP address 192.169.1.105, and the other to use 192.168.1.106. It's the 192.168.1.xx part that defines the range. If you need more info, just ask...

Yes, the crossover not the same kind as the one that goes between the modem and the computer. They look the same, but the wires are different. And no, it's not that hard to make.

Scorchedraw- Are you sure you're using a crossover cable? (most of them have CROSSOVER printed right on them) If so, then you may have to change the IP address of your computer AND xbox to STATIC. You set it to DHCP if you have a router involved. If it's just Computer to Xbox, then you need to define an IP address for both devices.

oooscorpion- Which device do you need to set to DHCP? Your pc is set to DHCP by default, and for your xbox, we need to know which dashboard you're using. For most of them, look for a settings page, and then network. There should be an item called something like "Connection Type". Change this to static/DHCP, depending on what hardware you're using.

I am not posotive that I have a Crossover cable it is just a 50 foot ethernet cable and I figured it would work. Going to try the Hub today though
Can I use two ethernet cables for that?
I am using UnleashX if it helps

oooscorpion-You set the ftp to automatic and then hook to your computer/hub
then go into your ftp program (FlashFxP,SmartFtP,and/or CuteFtP) hit quick connect and you should see the connection transpire

??

What exactly do you mean, set the ftp to automatic? You need to input your xbox's IP address into the ftp app, and use the username/pass of "xbox/xbox". Then you can do a quick connect.
