WII FIRMWARE 4.0 Ups And Downs

Well i installed the new firmware update for the Wii and i have to say finally are prayers have been answered

Yes you can download vc games from the shop channel to a sd card.

yes certain channels not all like the internet channel get a speed boost when running from the sd card while the photo channel update and the channels that receive updates via the wii shop channel need to stay on the wii system memory because the shop channel won't update a channel on a sd card only on system memory.

The sd card slot supports Sd hc 8 gig 4 gig and up.

Unknown if the new update will remove the homebrew channel or mess up a hacked wii.

Yea I was asked to update just a few minutes ago... gonna hold off until more people look at it lol

What is affected

Twilight Hack 0.1beta2 Can no longer be copied from the SD card.
DVDx (new install)
The Homebrew Channel (new install) New install and if copied to the SD card, cannot be move back to the system memory.

What is NOT affected

The Homebrew Channel (previous install)
DVDx (previous install)
WAD Manager (If cIOS was installed before update)

Yea it makes me wonder to.

I enjoyed the fact that i can load channels from sd

but i disliked that the wii speak channel had a update and when i tried to apply the updated version on a sd card it told me that the update could not be applied because the data A.k.A the channel was already on the sd card and could not be updated.

So important wii items

Mario Kart channel

Nintendo channel

The check my mii out channel

and the everyone votes channel

and wii speak

must remain on the system memory in order to update.

i hope nintendo fixes this soon.

I knew there was something I needed to do before running the update. How or even can I, install the Homebrew channel now?

As of right now you cant install the homebrew channel via twilight hack

I'm not doing this, my 12 burned games won't work if I do.

The thing that scares me the most.

If 4.0 blocks the homebrew channel new installation then what is stoping nintendo from blocking a game to run without 4.0 remember every wii game has a system update built into it.

Your burned games will work as long as they work before you update. Also you can update via Waninkoko's updater and you will be fine
