iPod touch 2.1.1

I was wondering if it is possible to jailbreak the iPod touch 2.1.1 firmware, NOT 2.1, but 2.1.1? I was wondering becuase i Just bought it and all I can find is 2.1 quickpwn.

I'm not sure as of right now, if you can jailbreak 2.1.1 but if not then it wont be too long before you can.

as of right now u can't jailbreak 2.1.1they are working on it but it's really hard to crack because it's the 2nd generation iPod touch firmware

yea not gonna lie it sucks ... i just got mine today and ive been looking everywhere for like the past 4 hours to try and jailbreak it. but no luck yet.

2.1 is 2.1.1 the extra one just means its the first build of 2.1

However only the first generation itouch can be jailbroken no matter what version your running.


If it has speakers that means its the second version and it cant be hacked yet

so the coding is the same? if it was it still should work if its the same build ... i saw a posted comment by a guy who said 2 days ago that he jailbroke his 2.1.1 by using pwnage or w/e and he said it worked the same way... but yea mine is new so it has the external speakers ... i want it customized!

However:
2.1.1 firmware on the 2nd generation touch can't be jailbroken.

I dont want to come off rude at all (and I could very easily be getting false info too), but thats not true.
The Firmware from 1st Gen and 2nd Gen are the exact same (both Jailbreakable). The problem isnt the firmware, the problem is that the 2nd generation itouch will only work with iTunes 8, which doesnt have a way to choose the Firmware to use on a restore. So untill someone finds a way to bypass iTunes for a firmware restore or figure out a way to use iTunes 8 and load custom Firms, 2nd gen iTouchs arent jailbreakable. (please correct me if im wrong, cause Id like to be up to date with everything).

No your incorrect. the software is in fact not the same it has support for the new features such as the external speakers and the volume control on the side so installing 2nd gen touch firmware on the first gen touch is not possible. Itunes 8 is not the problem. The problem is on the new touch apple used different hardware (Specifically the processor) witch is giving the dev team a hard time since then need to start from scratch on this project.

As for itunes the 2.1 pwnage tools install the firmware strait to the ipod without using itunes now to bypass that block that they put in to itunes. otherwise jailbreaking the first gen would have also been put on hold.
